What we are about

The Haven is a guild aimed at PvE progression whilst providing a friendly atmosphere and a good guild community. Whilst we have our high-end raiders, we also provide a "haven" for lower-level people that are friendly as well whilst not being swamped with "whiney lowbies" as they are so affectionately named. Lower-level players are nurtured and supported, and people getting close to or who have just hit 70 will be supported in gearing up for raiding.

The Guild Mod Packs

Mod Pack

The modpack for raiders(and good for anyone!) can be downloaded from here This pack contains:

  • Omen (will need user updating periodically, do NOT rely on the one included here)
  • DeadlyBossMods
  • oRA2
  • Decursive (ANYONE with debuff-removing abilities, be they DPS, tank or healer, will need this mod; it is not optional)
  • PallyPower (Paladins must have this mod, end of story)
  • AtlasLoot (to stop people asking "where does [Random Item] come from?!!!11twelve")
  • MobInfo2 (this isn't neeeded, but is very handy for tweaking the display of mob information display for people without specialised unitframes)
  • SpamMeNot (installing this will nullify 99% of all gold-seller spam; it's a god-send)
  • Rating Buster (this lets you set up item tooltips so that when you mouse-over a piece of gear you can use, it'll tell you how much you would gain or lose from that item compared to the currently-equipped one. VERY handy for working out what is an upgrade and by how much)
  • Wrath of the MCP (aka WotMCP; this mod lets you enable or disable mods in-game; this only requires a quick reload, rather than a relog, and does it just as quickly and effeciently as relogging with half the hassle)

To open the .zip archive with the mods in, you'll an archive program like WinRar or IZArc. The Windows XP/Vista built-in ability to open .zip files doesn't like these .zip archives I use, for the most part.

The pack will be updated "as and when", with the latest mods. Anytime after a recent patch, expect it to be broken, and Omen will often need updating.

Compulsory Class Mods

  • Paladins
    • PallyPower: This mod is NOT optional for a raiding paladin. Not having it could potentially cost you a raid spot, and if you don't have it but are given a raid spot (due to problems with numbers), you will be asked by the raid leader to install it. It's a very simple mod to use and is incredibly useful for both you and the raid leader. It can be found: here from Curse.

Updating Mods

The program WoWAceUpdater is now outdated and decommissioned; it will no longer work! If you have it, I'd recommend getting rid of it since it does nothing, now.

WoWMatrix is highly recommended, and updates almost all mods, with many more being added as time goes by, and only the most obscure ones being left out. It even tells you when a mod becomes discontinued/replaced, and will help you take steps to keep everything working. Finally, it includes a decent search function to look for new mods through the program. It's safe and secure (so no worries, those of your scared about keyloggers and suchlike can rest assured). It can be obtained here, from their cunningly-named website.

There's also places you can manually update mods, if you are so inclined:

Some mods MUST be kept up to date! Mostly these will be oRA2, DeadlyBossMods and Omen. It's a good idea to update all your mods periodically anyway, and especially so when there's just been a new patch (to make sure nothing is broken), but those three are the most important ones in a raid scenario and must be kept functional.
