Hello,
Anyone out there a MAC user? Maybe shed some light on why my new comp sucks so much? I know it's not high end, probably not even medium end, but you'd think that duel 2.26GHz w/ 4GB DDR3 and 256MB NVidia GFx could run EvE in reduced graphics mode? I was running it fine with far less a week ago!?! Now when I kick on EvE it literally takes my CPU up to 100% usage.
Can anyone explain why 100% CPU is used with just my modem and EvE client running before I send it back in a couple days?
Manny
(and in before the : because it's a MAC posts)

Not a Mac user here, but have you tried asking/looking on the EVE support forums?
There are a few peeps that may be able to help you out here so don't lose all hope :)

Iron Fist may be able to help here as I know he uses the MAC eve client and I have heard that it is a bit buggy but shouldn't be that bad.
Assuming you have a new 13" mbp which from those specs I'm guessing you are you should have no issues playing eve on it. Got a mate from work who was playing on a 3yr old mbp with no major issues.
When it ramps up is there anything else using any CPU in activity monitor? What is the memory allocation (second activity monitor tab) like at the point.
As I say I'd wait to see if Iron Fist has any ideas.

bootcamp is the way to go for the most stable performance imho. i've have nothing but problems with the mac client, it "works" but there are weird issues with it.
i'm running the 2.4GHz black macbook with the intel 3100gma, i can squeeze about 20fps out of eve so it's "playable" for market orders and maybe a little mining in high sec, but the nvidia ones should do much better if you can work around the issues.
the only time i see the 100% CPU is when the client d\cs and re-starts as i run it in widowed mode as that runs better, but it reboots to full screen with the only way to kill it being holding down apple, alt and esc.
first suggestion i'd give is throwing it into windowed mode automatically and see what it does.
otherwise i'm at work at the moment so feel free to give me a shout when i get home between 6 and 7.
oh and watch out for the sticky sides that can cause windows to get stuck on your cursor...

Other than making sure all the drivers are up to date, i'm not really sure - check out the MAC forum here http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&channelID=630464 and see if anyone is having similar issues.

Thanks for the support folks.
What's bootcamp?
How do I put EVE into windows mode? (there's no option in the ESC menu like in MS versions)
I know that it's got to to be computer specific issues because here I am on my brother's dual 2Ghz/4Gb and it runs just fine....

I've had no issue with the eve client on my MBP. I can happily run with full graphics and native res... So I've not really got anything to help.
Windowed mode however can be found by pressing command+enter
