So I got the new book in the mail yesterday and I'll be honest: at page 202 I've put it down because it sucks (more than my Mac laptop that can't run the client). Seriously, nothing has happened, the main characters don't do anything (now they're sitting around an Amarrian Religious retreat with a Minmatar discussing how he feels about the slaves working in the fields) and I don't really see where the story is going.

It's like a late Lucas-ian movie: nothing but a but a bunch of various random references crudely linked together in some semblance of story that only the least intelligent would find interesting and only if they're willing to overlook the blatant plot gaps. OK, maybe there's no JarJar in the book, but he certainly wouldn't be out of place. As for the writing itself: I'm wondering if this is a translation from Icelandic?

I'll finish reading it maybe someday if I'm really bored... If it wasn't EvE related, I would have given up long ago. I give this a solid: borrow-from-library-if-all-the-good-books-are-out rating.

It's certainly not as good as Empyrean Age.

I think it's main suffering point is that the author tried to cram in all 4 empires and all the main pirate factions (yet somehow missed out serpentis!), so the characters just seem to freely flit between factions and it doesn't feel right because of it.

You're absolutely right.. I truely enjoyed Empyrean Age and this Burning life book feels like the author had a list beside him while he was writing simply to check off races/factions he had mentioned.

I think cause he's CCP head story guy, he was too vested in including as much of the content he's helped craft as possible.
Tony Gonzales is just an author on the hand :)
