ok lads iv just got round to watching the demos from the PLA vs no named nobodies, iv watched them and go lots of clips by using fraps as i am planning on making a short movie just using those clips, iv done this before on a BF2 and a CSS videos without any problems, untill now  when i try and import the clips into windows movie maker i keep gettin this message:

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Derek Clifton\My Documents\My Videos\THN\BF2 2005-12-26 13-31-37-00.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

so i have downloaded everything to do with codecs on the microsoft website but the message still comes up the clips dont even run in windows media player so i have downloaded lots of codecs but still nothing, i have never had this problem before,

so please can someone help me pull this project out of the shit?
any solutions or links post here

Hmm, I've had a codec problem with windows movie maker before, but it was with sound. One of the sound codecs it was using kept making it crash, and it was some useless codec.
I had to go to Tools/Options and then to the Compatibility tab where it lists all the codecs it uses. Perhaps you could have a mess around there and see what you can do. Perhaps clicking on restore all defaults may help, but I don't know how to help you any further than that.

I swear that Pestcontrol or somebody did a post about codecs on the old site. Check the Archives (http://archive.thehavennet.org.uk/) and see if you can find anything in the Systems & Software forum back there.

that archive link doent work

Ah, we're having some issues with Archive.THN at the moment. Hopefully we'll get it back in place in the next few days.

IT should be a codec problem anyway? FRAPS saves it at uncompressed and samples the audio from your sound card, which is also uncompressed.

I'd suggest another peice of software other than Movie Maker, perhaps Unlead VideoStudio 8, or if you're lucky Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5
