View Full Version : So, what do you think so far?

It's been three weeks since the new Games.THN site has been launched. A good portion of the gaming THN community has moved over from the old board, though some people appear to have been lost along the way. We're hoping to see them again at some point in the future, but people come and people go and sometimes that's just the way of things.

Still, all you guys (and gals too :) ) are here and it's great to see you.

We want you to stay, too, so time for a quick sanity check...

What do you think of the new Games boards? Is there anything you're really missing? Is there anything you really like about this place?

While you're considering these questions, here are some of the possible (in that they're not planned for certain) updates we may look at over the next couple of months:

A new style/template that brings events, latest threads, birthdays and other useful information into a column on the right.
Signature controls, that may include allowing some images into your signatures.
Announcements above the main forums list, just as we used to have.
Navigation crumb trail at the top and bottom of a page.
Last post listing for entire categories, not just forums.

Other updates may also happen on a more ad-hoc basis, as we see the need, but that's a list of new functionality that we're considering.

So, vote in the poll, post your feedback and let us know what you think!

Really loving the new site.

It's great to have some dedicated sections for BF2. It has enabled me to restructure the clan and give the BF2 playing community a bit more direction. If things keep moving then the current structure will be able to support potential growth and that's really important.

Would like to see a last post on the Battlefield 2 and Civilization 4 sub forums. BF2 is very busy ATM and I expect that Civ will pick up once we get an event organised.

More styles would be brilliant as it's always good to have options. Also if you have the time a short tutorial on how to build your own style would be nice as I have some ideas but I'm unsure what I'd need to do to get them working.

Keep it up mate.

Also if you have the time a short tutorial...

Ah, yes, I owe the Admin Team at least one tutorial (sorry guys... just not got there yet). I was going to do that as a voice tutorial. Would that sort of thing be best, or does written work better for you?

A 'liquid' style that fills my whole monitor would be a nice addition...

But yeah, huge improvement overall.

voice with images would be best ;)

I'm sure anything you come up with will be satisfactory :)

Yup its looking great so far, just a shame I can't get on a lot justnow, maybe you can do something with the private messaging like make it pop up when theres a new message or something. Just some kind of indication when you get a new message as I can never really see when I have a new message as its soo small.

I get a window popping up on my screen when I get a new private message asking me if I would like to read it or not, I think you can enable this in your settings if you are not seeing it.

That's a good point, Macca. As KC says, you can make it pop-up in your User CP options, but if you've dismissed that it can be hard to tell. This may be something to address in the new style/template I'm working (slowly) on.
