View Full Version : [EVE] WAR against Hexstoof

Some corp from Pator has decided to declare war on us. My response to this due to the fact at least 2 of their members have been playing since September is to go hide in Caldari space doing some lvl3 missions up near where Pia is going to be doing level 4 stuff. If they want to come over there to get me that is their prerogative and I'm hoping they won't as I'm not at all kitted for pvp at all. I also have no interest just yet in fighting that sort of fight or losing my shiny new ship.

I'm not bothered if people think I'm a coward for running and hiding I'm not losing my ship the day after getting it. If we can get some big mean ally to come help us then maybe it's a different matter but I'm not at all interested.

If the unanimous of the rest of the Corp is to planned skulk out Pator then I'm happy to tank and be a ranged missile platform for us but I'm not up for this unless all the big guns all congregate in Pator and we fight as one blob.

This sort of thing in a month sounds brilliant I just don't want to die yet.

I've refitted to a more PvP configuration from my PvE/salvager configuration.

I tried to talk the other Corp out of this mad war but they're wanting to practice PvP, or so they say, and they're not for being talked out of it. Apparently, they've researched Haven NetWorks and figured we'd be a good match. I blame Pia and Bambi. So, diplomacy failed. Feel free to run and hide if you want to stay out of this. I plan on running missions as usual but my location may vary randomly to keep me out of ambush lines.

The war is for a week, according to them. Weapons free around 21:30 (20:30ish EVEtime) Wednesday night. No podkilling. I agreed, insofar as anyone can, that we'd not podkill if they didn't either and they've accepted that.

Otherwise, I heartily recommend shooting them in the face any chance you get, preferably in a dark corner of space with overwhelming firepower on your side while they scream in agony in the grip of you webs and warp scramblers. :D

Courtesy of BiG D, research your enemy (http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/pk/view/corp-HeXstoof-kills.html).

I see at least one Drake in there.

Also...

I also see a Caracal and a Caldari Navy Issue Caracal.

Expect missiles.

Hmmm, i'm going to still hang in pator, I like my contact in pator and i'm not going to run i've decided. As an interest do these people now show up on my scanner as red/yellow/white i'd like to know incase I need to look out for white dots tagetting me on entering the system.

Theres an option you can select in the overview settings to turn at war enemies background colour on, and then select said colour, so you'll know who they are :)

Ronin Storm
Wed 23 Apr 2008, 09:48
By default, they should show up with a red star in the overview, rather like friends show up with a green star.

Wed 23 Apr 2008, 10:05
They seem to be using a combination of Drakes and Caracals with heavy missiles. No idea what stuff they are using as all I can find in battleclinic is their victims kit. They've got one kill from a guy with a cruise missile, but that doesn't say he is from hexstoof, not sure if that means he was an ally or just some punter who turned up in a raven to have some fun.

Ronin Storm
Wed 23 Apr 2008, 10:20
Yeah, that cruise missile actually looks like bounty hunting. The HeXstoof guy was in a pod at the time and the only reason it shows up as a kill is probably because the deceased and the HeXstoof guy traded fire. I wouldn't be overly surprised if that's one of the things that has caused them to want to buff their PvP skills.

Basically, if they start showing up with wings of Battleships then we know it was a load of cobblers about practice. They do, however, only have 11 members and last report is that they're not in a formal alliance (according to the EVE interface) so we'd theoretically stand a chance.

I'm contemplating doing the training straight from the Destroyer into a Battlecruiser as I'm only a day away from it. ITs just ammasing the cash to do something about it :)

I can get some nice tips and stuff from ACA-- as to how I go about fitting a ship for PVP.

If we're going to activly go into this war, we can go hunting them with an EM ship, long range missile battery and a short range platform of heavy and medium turrets :)

Ronin may I suggest a Private sub forum for HNW Corp? :)

Ronin Storm
Wed 23 Apr 2008, 12:24
I'm not going to make a private EVE/Corp forum as the rest of the community appear to want to read about the stuff going on in EVE.

However, I will make us a War Room, with The Big Board in it, and make that controlled-access only.

Traxata
Wed 23 Apr 2008, 12:27
Ah thats probably alot more along the lines of what we need, yes :)

I was more concerened about the safety of our movements and other plans that may or may not end up threaded on the boards that can, ultimately, and inevitably be used for plotting an ambush.

Well I just lost Regenald which has pissed me off a treat so from this point on I have no interest in fighting at all. Especially not if all they are doing is sitting with those bloody cruise frigates.

Not fun at all. Maybe if I had the money to replace them with ease then I'd enjoy it more, but I get a lot of emotional attachment to my ships so until I can solve that problem I'm avoiding pvp.

G'Day from Down Under. I am "the enemy", a situation beyond my control (I've been out of town all week, unable to play). First, and foremost, I'd like to apologise to you all in regards to your losses. I find this type of war dispicable, and will not be taking any action against you. I have spoken today with Atedar (our CEO) and he has agreed to retract as of this afternoon (my time), so you should all be getting the confirmation Concorde letter if you have not already done so. Please understand that while we do enjoy honing and practicing PVP, how this war was allowed to take place is entirely beyond me. I am merely a member, not of the hierarchy, but since RoninStorm is refusing to enter a private chat with me, I felt it necessary to visit here and get this off my mind.

As an aside, and for your information, Trinity Supernova is my other account. While both are in battleships (Tempest/Raven), I assure you again that unless attacked, I am completely harmless.

Once again, I apologise sincerely for any loss of life or ship which has occurred. Please consider me a friend. Fly safe!

but since RoninStorm is refusing to enter a private chat with me, I felt it necessary to visit here and get this off my mind.

Sorry about that. I only just noticed when I happened to spot Atedar's chat box pop-up. I'm only idling in game listening for "skill training complete" while I work so I'm usually not watching the window.

Thank you for visiting, though, and sharing your thoughts. I certainly appreciate them. Also, feel free to stick around on the forums if you so desire. THN is an open community and we play all sorts of things, not just EVE.

Hi C4LYP50, thanks for posting. From my understanding your CEO thought we were a little more experienced than we actually are (surely the downside to re-activating trial accounts years later!), so perhaps wasn't deliberately looking for a corporation of new players (although that depends on how evil he actually is ;)).

Anyway, one of your members, Kilette Dark has kindly donated 2,000,000 isk to each of us who incurred losses and so alleviated some of the financial pain. Still, it was an experience; I'd certainly never faced a stealth bomber before and am now more aware of their power and the tactics involved in using them. Perhaps the situation has even stimulated an interest in getting one for myself in the months to come!

But, it'll be nice to be able to just potter about in space again :D.

Though it does strike me as quite a harsh Eve mechanic that in secure space I can be put at as much risk as 0.0 just for being affiliated with a corporation! Especially since the victim corporation has no say in the matter to begin with. Damn Eve and her harsh environment!

Hello everyone

There's 2 reasons I stopped the war. I realized that you are all noobs. (The good kind of noobs) and you seem to be a cool bunch of guys.

I hope that you didnt loose too much money. If you are interested I would like to do some stuff with you guys in the future. Maybe some lvl4 missions and friendly pvp training... the kind of training where you dont loose your ships :)

The reason I thought you guys would like a little fun war, was because we noticed you got some pretty old members... wich werent that old after all.

Im sorry guys :D
Wont happen again

Thu 24 Apr 2008, 19:27
Hi,

Well first thanks for ruining my rep with the CEO by letting him know I was Paying you for ship kills. ;)
Hes convinced that I must have been doing that for all my WAR kills ;)

As some of you may have gathered although we WERE using this war as practice, it was specificly Stealth Bomber practice. (Having said that tho, I will also add that we only have two good PVP players, and the rest of the corp do need general practice)

THEY ARE A BLOODY CLAN. so we could expect 1) More memebers in EVE to join the corp 2) The rest of the clan to suddenly join and fly riffters

They was some seriours worry that we would loose this war, (ie we did setup our fallback sites) becuse of the seemingly older players and the fact you DO have the whole clan to call apon for free trails. (That might sound far fetched, but we got two ppl for 14 days from a clan in BF 2142 that the CEO was in, for a war agaisnt us). The NO Podding rule was infact for OUR benifit, incase we started to get kicked across the systems

Advice:

You did very well to manage to field as bob put it a "blob" that had 2/1 numbers , unfortunatly your lack of practice (or even concideration when it comes to SBs), means that you where at a loss to do anything. So.......

SB) A Stealth bomber is paper thin, they put a lot of alpha strike out but really not that much Damage per second, a resonable Crusier should be able to cope with 6-7 vollies min, so close them down. If you have Afterbruners or micro warps use them. Once you are in locking range, and get a lock, the SB cannot then re cloak, and is toast.
For the frigates and destroyers, look what is behind the SB, the SB pilot has warped to where they are from somewhere, so warp to a point that makes a line from the SB warpto target (last night it was your HQ), and the SB. Warp to this distant point, then warp back to 100km from the target (ie your HQ). This will put you, if not on top of the target, at least a lot closer.

The drake) First two crusiers CAN kill a drake, but it need two good crusier pilots who work well as a team.
With your level of PVP you really should only think of shooting at a drake when you can hit from +55 km. The drake has one of the BEST tanks in the game it has like +5 Magic resist Shield just as one of its basic skills but its the slowest of the BCs. So.... dont fight them unless you really really have to. It was physicly impossible for me to catch any of you last night with the drake, yet one by one you let me do just that. IF all your fire cannot be brought to bear on the one target at the same time, leave/get distance, till a time that it can

Anyway. Good luck with your Corp.
DONT STEAL SALVAGE. (Thats not why we picked you, but from your boards I get the implication that some of you members are doing this, and I would advice you that with the corps current level of PVP you are just asking to be killed)
DONT FLIP MINING CANS. ( I dont think you are doing this, but dont unless you again dont mind a war)
If you avoid these two and dont smack-talk local, the you will probably be adle to avoid a war until some "protection" corp stumbles on you.

IF you are war deced by a fullon PVP corp, remeber that yesturdays Enemies can be tommorows friends, and Call us. The worst that can happen if that we comfirm that you are in trouble

H&K

Hey Kerane, Kilette, Calypso,

Thanks for dropping by the forums. As others have said before this is a gaming community site and we play more then just Eve together. So if you're ever up for some AlienSwarm, Battlefield, TF2, etc... just drop in and say hello. There's always something on the go.

As for the PVP stuff it's a shame you picked us up so early on. If it was a month or 2 later we would not be in this situation and I'd have probably lost my BC by now. :D

As for tactics et al, thanks for the advice Kilette I'm sure it will be listened to.

You are right that we are a BLOODY CLAN and we can be organised when required but our lack of experience is going to hold us back for a while. This is where we need help and is why I "personally" was really up for fighting.

We will need to train in the near future and some people are already starting to get itchy trigger fingers for pvp and so I'm sure we'll be pestering you for friendly fights (initially) maybe ramp it up to tournaments or arranged engagements and see where it goes from there...(I'm just gonna throw that out there and see if anyone picks it up)?

All in all a bit of excitement and a load of new friends/enemies/allies...the lines get blurred amongst the Nos/scramblers and missile explosions.

It would be good to see you guys on and around these boards from now on (I believe you don't have a site specifically so why not come chat here) and maybe we can organise some future events etc...

Cheers,
pHatBambi (Kaneda Suul).

Credit your Eve Online account with 30 days of prepaid game time

30 Day GTC. This Game Time Code can be used to upgrade your trial account to a full account or to add game time to an existing account. This code is compatible with CCP's GTC for Isk system. Use of this code requires that you have Eve Online installed on your system. We will send this code immediately via email upon approval of the purchase. As Eve Online does not have regional servers or separate players across shards, this Game Time Code will work for all versions of the game

ATTENTION: First time customers will be phoned by our staff for verification of their order. If you are not available to receive our call, please wait to place the order when you will be available. Yes, we will call anywhere in the world. - They do, and dont make the mistake i did, used my own card, on my mum's paypal account, the woman that phoned refused to talk to me.

I have tried it again on the EVE website and it still wants 14.95 Euros/month to reactivate my account. If I go to your link with the Eve ETC, it wants $14.95, which is about 9.49 Euros, so I see what you mean!!

When you buy a 30 day credit with ETC, is it like mobile phone credit where you only use up your 30 day credit when you play EVE? Could the 30 day credit last for 60 days if you only played every other night. Please explain!!!

Ronin Storm

I have decided not to play eve with you guys until you get a little deeper, if i do at all, besides my mission running ship is worth 1.2b(wouldnt want to play with you guys and then loose it again, i'd be so dissapointed), although i replaced that with a more effective ship(nighthawk) for 750 :) (but who uses all faction mods anyway?)

If you work together you will, you need to independantly make a tonne of isk about 1b between you, buy a blueprint, mine minerals at weeke ends say 4 hours totalling 12, 5-7miners, hauler, build the ships, sell them, and bang everyone wins, in theory.
