Youtube location detection going nuts ...

Just hit a weird issue on youtube. On my laptop I can browse a video fine:

Laptop view

On my tablet however on the same local network the video gives:
Tablet view

I'm wondering if youtube on android does something similar to chrome on android with pre-rendered pages remotely which may affect locale.

Anyone had this or have any thoughts?

Hmm mine is nexus7 tablet so there appear to be different errors based on mobile phone or tablet. Can't help but feel more of this is nonsense is the future as net neutrality breaks down and content providers are more arsy about who/what/where with their content.

Youtube does allow you to block your videos on "mobile devices" for whatever reason, but that error message doesn't appear to be that...

does chrome allow extensions on tablets? you could try that "media-hint" extension which can get you around location-based blocks.

that's assuming you haven't already found a solution for this, seeing as you posted it 3 days ago :v
