You DO realise that a youtube account is also the same as a Google account. Gmail, anything else, it's all the same...

I did it completely the wrong way around:

Create a google account with my personal domain email address

then create a google hosted domain for that email address.

Google then has a hissy fit over what service should handle the domain!
