2142 Ladder choices

Myself and VibroAxe have been trying to get enough people together for Regular Sunday night 'matches' we have a server available to us for this. (elD made this possible ;) although i have some extra settings to point your way depending on which ladder to pick .. )


So

We are going to try and join the Enemy Down Ladders

Either

16 Player Infantry Only

Or

Titan Ladder


Titan Mode players
Minimum players - Titan maps are for up to 48 players, the minimum for a match on ED is 10.

Maximum players - Titan maps are for up to 48 players, the maximum for a match on ED is 20.


The Infantry league requires a Minimum of 5 Players per match, and a maximum of 8 per match, so If we go down the route of Conquest Inf Only, we only need about 12 people.

Personally i think we should start off with the Infantry ladder and if we get enough people, enlist in the Titan ladder :)

I'd just like to warn you that some of the guys in the inf league are insanely good. I'm talking making me look absolutely pathetic. watch for the INF-UK Voss squad, they are scary as hell. you turn a corner and there's 4 Voss' ready to head shot anything in sight.


A lot of the other teams are very beatalbe if decent tactics are used and the squad work is sexy. Med train FTW. UE are pretty easy as are FTG. TBE are a bit hit and miss depending on who turns up to play. Sometimes they are unbeatable but sometimes they suck.

I'd say tbh just from a numbers point of view go for inf league as its really annoying turning up to a titan match to only play 7 or 8 players.

Add a "I don't care, either will do." option. :)

I'll prolly give 2142 another whirl at installing soon.

Trax was asking so that is how u do it. The spelling is not my fault my clan admin can't spell.


Log onto a server which has PB enabled (Empty 1 will do) and open ur consol (Key next to 1, looks like `or Home / End [1 of the 2]).
Once you have the consol open you need to type the following:

pb_logtofile 1
pb_myguid (GUID will appear in consol but u dont need to write it down)
pb_logtofile 0

Please remember to press return after each line.

Once you have done the above then u can come out of the game (Either close it or ALT Tab out) and goto the following location:

C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Battlefield 2142/pb

In this location you will find a text document called "pbcl", open this and hey presto your GUID should be in there.
Your GUID should look something like "ebe4c1d6ffbca46f6fa45943f960ecbe".

I wouldn't worry too much about losing, playing against good players is what makes you better.

We have nothing to lose by going for it, and may even have some fun in the process.

I seriously doubt we'd be able to cobble enough playes together for a titan match, we've hardly even enough to play infantry matches. I'm well up for the infantry only ladder, but I think it'll require some serious application from everyone involved. I wouldn't start the ladder until we can guarantee we have at least 8 regs (which we don't have at the moment) to make sure we can at least expect to see the minimum no. of players turning up for matches (5) and maybe even some reserves.

Ok, depending how many people we get turn up this evening, or possibly in a few weeks, for 'training' I've already planned the first evening.

Tonights attendance thing, although no one uses it much because .. its sort of dominating the event list :p is here

I have internet now. So count me in. I like the idea of going for the infantry and then progressing to titan if we get big enough :)

edit: I am voting "both" to signify that.

I'm really sorry I've not been around for a week or so, I've had a few problems internet and freetime wise, I can tell you in advance that I am infrance next week, so practise for that will be out!
Week after though, i'm in for the duration!

I tried to fly a jet the other day, but I think bob shot me down whilst I was shouting at my brother :( I popped him with a SAAW rocket later on though, so it's all good :D

Practices starting at 6:30pm is a bit early, most people going for dinner. Would a 7-8pm start mean more people are likely to turn up and stay for the long haul?

Thats the times i had originally set Hotstuff :), however Vibs did a silly and made it that time, which there will be at least one of us about so its not that bad

But yes, all things start at around 7GMT :)

Ok, I'm in (if I'm not too late...?)

Also, Inf. is probably the best way to go for now.

Thirdly, HotStuff is right. 8 PM start would be best, as most people will have finished dinner, done work etc. and be ready to play.

It seems we have some server issues to sort out first... I think the fact that we are also running a PR server on there could potentially be affecting it?

What It also shows up in the bf2142 server list as a PR server, even if you specify the correct ip/port, so there is definitely something worng with it...

I had a little poke at this today. The only thing that I can think was when Ronin suggested to me that I may not have correctly set one of the ports in the config files, and that the server is trying to broadcast over the same port. I can't find this anywhere, but I'll look again tomorrow.

Other than that, Trax told me today that the server has some issues with crouching, sprinting, and shooting. These all work fine for me. However, we had similar issues (and maybe still do?) on the PR server. Again, it worked fine for me on that too.

So, my conclusion is that you all have problems with your mental states and need professional help :D Other than that, I'll need some people who are having problems with me on the server at some point to try and fix it.
