Account hacked

Hello, boys and girls. Unfortunately, in some unfathomable way, my account was hacked somewhere between 4 and 5am, and as such, while Blizzard were quite fast in blocking the account, they were too late to prevent whoever did snatch the password from selling all my sellable items, meaning I possees several unarmed characters with assorted bits of armor missing.

I've already contacted Blizzard in this respect, and let's see if it is at all possible to regain the lost items, otherwise I'll have to reconsider what to do with 0 gold, unarmed, half-naked characters, with all crafting mats gone and the like. :(

Usually they help people out fully, give em all their stuff and money back. Make sure they help you that way too.

If Blizz screws up, which hopefully they dont, i can help you out matey. And perhaps some others too. I'm not afraid of sharing :)

The irony is that I downloaded the battle.net app for the phone before going to bed, but it had trouble doing the initial sync. Joy.

EDIT: congratulations. Your authenticator has been successfully activated. There is no worse timing, really. LOL

You'll get your stuff back, I know how it feels to be hacked.

Took em about 6 days to sort me out when I was done over, now its all fine and I have an authenticator too

Honestly, I don't doubt they can sort things out, as it's easily logged in my characters' sales and outgoing mails, which allows them to easily track item ID's and the like.

It's just plain annoying that this happened during a period in which I couldn't get my ISP to properly sync the code, thus not activating my mobile authenticator. Ah, well - it's a nuisance, nevertheless.

You aren't using a gmail account that has the same password as your wow account by chance? There was a (limited) gmail breach last year, and I'm pretty sure that's how I lost my GW account.

Althought the Authenticator is the best account security, it has been hacked recently.

As the IT guy I am, I backtraced the intrusion to South Korea, and the timing of the assault coupled with a fruitless (as I don't keep any valuable information in it) access to my gmail revelals that my work machine was the source, not my own, via accessing the account page when reactivating the WoW account and quite likely through a security flaw in flash, as Haven pointed out, as Flash is mandatory to be able to continue developing my client's application. As such, it is clear the AV / FW protection they put in the machine is clearly insufficient and, while this is very annoying, it's just a minor problem compared to the significance of the data in that machine, and I have ordered that it remains untouched until I get there and configure it myself.

Gmail / WoW accounts never shared a password, and it was actually this fact (I use different passwords at all times between different applications), coupled with the time of the attack itself, that showed me that I had been injected a keylogger via the flash client itself. Sucks, but that's life - I should have known better than to let the company handle that machine's configuration.

Blizzard managed to intercept the hack in time to prevent Bloodgorge, my DK, from being stripped from his items. If only it had been Zaggank and Zaggorn. :(

Sucks that you account got hacked, :(
Had my entire WoW account hacked once as well. (Got an authenticator after that).
Had a lot of convos with GMs and spoke with their tech support.
Got everything back in the end. (Took a few tickets to point out some missing items. But they were refunded. Also got gold refunds)
Only item that was missing in the end was my little haunting specter thingy from the pre-Wrath event.
Hassle them and it will get sorted.
Also: Good that you have authenticator app now. So hopefully this will not happen again.

When it comes to your work comp. Really hoping that the damage is not too severe there.

I know the feeling m8:( got hacked 2 time's one of the accounts i dind get back:(
but the one with Madrak on it was a bit stripped but got all the stuff back that was gone.
But if Blizz fucks up with your other 2 chars i wil help you gearing up:)

All's well thanks to whatever revised procedures Blizz has in place. Not only the account was blocked minutes after the hack took place, they also managed to restore every single item I had a couple hours after the account was reactivated, all this with real-time explanation of the procedures by a GM. :)

Thanks to all who offered to help, and to Madrak for getting 0 loot from Hc FoS while I got 2 new weapons to complement the fold. :D
