Guys and Gals,

I have just installed WoW to as I haven't really played it before. Just wondering if anyone has any good tips? I am guessing I should join the Scarshield server??

Ok, Go Horde first of all. and yes Scarshield Legion EU

1)Classes for beginners= Typically id go with a faceroll easy to level classes with beginners so you want either a hunter (Ranged, has a pet to help you in battle) or a paladin (a melee close combat character )

2)You want specs for either , Id go beast mastery for hunter because it allows your pet to get more abilities that combine with yours and all round great solo playing build
For the paladin id go with the common retribution spec which is a two handed weapon mash monster build
(specs available level 10 by pressing "N")

3)If your handy with your keyboard and have more than two buttons on your mouse I suggest keybinding (Q,E,T,Z,X,C,F) are useful for people starting out and you can change your strafe which is (Q,E) to (A,D) and turn with your mouse

4)Professions, I can send you some gold to help you start out but you want mining and skinning for all round money but if not you can use mining with
-Jewelcrafting
-Blacksmithing
-Engineering

Skinning with
-Leatherworking
(all four of these are crafting professions)

5)the most important thing have fun!

if you need help on anything give me a message im not the most skilled player in the guild but I do have knowledge on Hunters,Death Knights,Paladins and Druids so dont hesitate to give me a shout thanks!

In Cryo Sleep
Id agree with belfer for the most part but read the little tool tips in game on characters and see what you like the sound of :) No point playing a class you dont like :) but Druids are awesome :)

wow has many realms and Scarshield Legion has a relatively low population.

The advantage of being in scarshield is certainly the social aspect for the Haven community. The advantage of a busier realm is the market thrives, and the place generally bustles more with activity.

You may want to check this website before making a decision.

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/eu_realmstats.php?sort=server

The learning curve for the game is so well implemented, it's unlikely you would have difficulty learning the game.

Do remember that you can easily change your realm with character migration but it does cost you about £15.

Welcome aboard, and enjoy your new 2nd life.

Having only been playing for few days, it turns out there has been "exploitative activity found" and my account has been closed. If Blizzard took the time to look at my character, they would see all I have is a level 3 hunter and the only thing I have to sell are a few pelts!!

Guessing my account has been hacked.........

Belfa is right. Blizzard won't tell you in-game about suspicious activity, they'll just lock your account. Look at the name of who is whispering you, it'll be something like "Blizzardx" or "BlizardGM". This is just a simple phishing scam where they get you to go to their website - which will look like a normal battle.net login page - so they can get your account login details. Always be suspicious of this type of message/name. Another giveaway is the website they ask you to go to, it's not an actual "battle.net" address (it'll be something like "battlenet.com" or "batt.le.net"). If a GM *does* contact you, their names are normally in purple and it's obvious they are a GM.
(Unless I've misunderstood and your account has actually been closed by Blizzard, in which case contact them via battle.net)

Ignore gold sellers and people offering rare/high level gear - especially if they are level 1. Their sites can be full of spy/malware too.

These are, sadly, not uncommon and certainly not limited to WoW.

And, yes, get an authenticator (via your battle.net account). You can get a free app for smartphones or a physical keyfob you pay for (about £7/8 I think).

If you DO get hacked, you have to report it either via battle.net or in game. Your account will be locked while they look into it. I got hacked once but had everything back within about 4 hours - this was on the day I woke up thinking "oh, I have a smartphone now (I'd had it 2 days) I should get an authenticator"! But it was too late :(

Still, these are kind of rare so don't let it worry you too much.

Ahhh, strange you should be hacked within days of signing up :(
Maybe check your PC for spyware/keyloggers etc.
An authenticator will definitely help keep your account safer.

Another good tip is to create an email address for battle.net/WoW only. I have a unique email address for most highly sensitive games/sites so that any emails I get to that address I know are genuine. If they aren't or they are spam, I know I've been hacked.
I still get a heap of spam to my main email address but I can just delete that.
