All BF2 Problems.

Right thought I would start a thread where anyone who has problems with BF2 can post up "complete" information about the problem and we can try and fix it.

So far I am counting

Gopha
Midgert
SgtSafety
and myself as having problems with this game now.

If they still do can they each post in this thread the complete problem.

My problem is it crashes to desktop when you try to connect to a server. First thought would be patches. But I downloaded both the 1.12 - 1.2 incremental and the 1.21 -1.22 incremental and both say they cannot find the BF2 folder to patch. Which suggest I don't have the prior version.

Not being able to find the BF2 folder sounds like a Windows Registry problem (as long as you have BF2 installed). The registry is a magical item in windows that lets programs get various information on different programs, including windows itself. Patches, etc, use the registry to find the BF2 folder. So, erm... Reinstall, and get the 1.3 full patch?

I believe Gopha's problem was "resolved". I seem to remember him saying somewhere that his graphics card was taken off the list of supported cards once version 1.2 had come out...

Well I Installed it yesterday and it seemed fine. I went on to a server and there was the air dropping vehicles and the buggered up lock on thing. However when trying to find the Co-Op option I could not find it. Safety says that he gets a Co-Op option on the drop down menu in "Join Internet" and "Create Local" I do not get this option, Instead I get Conquest, Single Player :S, or ALL. However when I select the Single player tab they are all conquest anyway :S.

The co-op servers are not ranked, so deselect ranked from your server filters then re-update your server list. Or the un-ranked (i.e. co-op) servers will not show up.

When i am playing BF2 TS periodically mutes me and using my pc sound output as an input, the other people in the channel hear my output and i am unable to respond, this never happens if bf2 isnt running.

I have Alt-<-(cursor) to mute mic, but i can only do that if ppl tell me its doing it... someone just mute me and dont say anything :(

Tried to fix before, nothing happened, i though this problem was gone for last2 weeks, but it happened today, and Sgtsafety muted me while i was trying to talk to him, this is why i need a fix.

You forgot mine. When I go to the multiplayer tab and get the updating servers message, the game will find between 80 - 140 servers (most of them empty  ). If I hit the refresh servers button or do a search, it will then find ~50 servers, with the number decreasing with every subsequent search.

It's not been too much of a problem as I can still join by IP (provided the people playing can be bothered to answer me when I ask for it), and if there's no THN'ers playing I can generally find one or two good servers from the limited selection, but it is quite frustrating when I know that there are upwards of 1000 servers and I'm only able to see about 10% of them.

BTW, the only filters I have selected are:- ranked, no password, same version, same mod and punkbuster. I also have all three map sizes selected.

Whinge whinge whinge.

Sometimes you're in the middle of sniping some sucker and you dont *want* to tab to find out the IP because your BF2 sucks ass.

This happened to me when I took my computer down to my dad's house to play BF2. The only difference in having it down at my dads was the monitor and the Internet connection and I doubt that it has anything to do with the monitor. From this I must conclude that it is an internet connection issue. I would try disabling your firewall and seeing if that helps you out any.

Well, yesterday I decided to do a reinstall. to try and sort the problem, I followed the guide I put up at the top of these forums :-

Manual Install.

Reinstalled BF2.
Installed Full 1.3 patch.

Everything now seems fine. Although sounds seem different now, not sure if that was the new patch :).

I think so, mine sound different as well.

Also Macca, I'm a little dubious about turning off my firewall (especially if I have to do it every time). I'll propbably give it a go but will need an alternative firewall if that is the problem. (Currently running ZoneAlarm)

EDIT. Tried turning off my firewall and there was no change. (In fact I actually got only 85 servers which is at the low end of the usual results).
