Ahey,
Also, to remind everyone:
Number one: Sign-ups
If you are a raider in this guild and you are not away from the game for more than week, then you MUST sign up to any and all raids, even if you're signing up as a "no". [...] If you join the guild to raid, then support the raiding
(Emphasis mine.)
Come on, guys, Big D and Ronin and the fine admin folk put together a shiny new sign up system for us. Let's put it to good use!
(I know some of you are having trouble with it. I trust the admins are on it. If not,
complain here.)
This isn't just about us being fussy. Although there are harder things to do in the world, putting together a proper 25-man team is not all that trivial. We just need to know who's out there, if for no other reason, then at least so we can figure out if a recruitment effort is needed, and where.
About a month ago, we were going through an interesting dynamic where we have 35 people sign up for a raid one week, then less than 20 the next week. This led to a freeze in the recruitment process, as well as quite a bit of frustration for quite a few of you.
Right now, we seem to be going through a different dynamic. For the past four weeks, we've consistently had less than 25 people sign up as a yes, for one reason or another.
Note that we're not blaming anyone here, and this is certainly not about "punishing" people for not coming to any one particular raid. (We're not Aftermath, and we won't be, as long as I have any say.) We understand that RL some times catches us by surprise.
It's like Lithy says:
Talk to us and let us know, people
Yes, it really is that simple.
On a side note, relating to PUGing and raiding with other guilds:
1) If you sign up as a "no" because you can't make it on the raiding day, but want to PUG it in another day, chances are you'll be allowed to. Just make sure you let us know that that's the case.
2) If you sign up as a "yes", don't PUG at all. There's no way to know in advance what the raid will be, and nothing kills a group faster than one of us saying "what? Sarthy? No, I can't, I'm saved".
3) If you sign up as a "no" but then go raiding with other guilds on our raiding day, even if it's just an alt, then we are going to be surprised and confused and might possibly over-react. There may be valid reasons for what's happening, but on the surface, it's going to look like disloyalty. Advance warning and perhaps some justification will be appreciated.
4) If you sign up as a "yes" but then don't show up because of an RL thing, let us know what happened as soon as possible. And please, let it not be because you decided to go drinking with your room-mates instead, unless you forgot someone's birthday or something.
5) If you sign up as a "yes" but then go raiding with other guilds on our raiding day, even if it's just an alt, then that's outright betrayal. Because I trust you all to be decent folk, I trust this will never happen, but if it does, you better have one hell of a story to tell me.
Again, no one is trying to tell you how to play the game. We're just asking you to play along.
Cheers,
J.
