Anyone play this? Bought it the other day, and I think It's quite good, tbh.

Played the beta for a while. Missions were repetitive, shooting was poor and so was driving which is quite important in a shooting and driving game. It also had a massive memory leak but that's probably fixed. It's not getting great reviews, either.

Mission: Every MMO "Mission" "Quest" "Whatever" gets repetative.

Shooting: It's fine for me. *shrug*

Driving: It's Iffy, Yes. But It's bareable, once you get used to it.

Dunno about the memory leak.

And Reviews? I go by personal oppinion over a "Professional".

The missions are repetitive when they shouldn't be. There's possibility for so much variation in the missions which the developers ignored. You're simply tasked with go to this location and hold down F or steal this car. The missions are actually the same for both factions. I played as an enforcer and I was either stealing drugs off the criminals or stealing their cars. Now you're probably jumping to shout WoW is all go here and essentially kill this enemy but the settings change and the enemies change. APB you're in the same setting doing exactly the same thing over and over and over.

Then there's the matchmaking. There's only 100 people to a server so you'll find yourself fighting the same guys repeatedly. This is good if you get good enemies but more often than not you'll get enemies better geared than you.

Shooting is crap because there's no locational damage. Non-Lethal weapons are completely ridiculous and overpowered and (at least in the beta) everyone used the same weapons.

I don't want driving to be bearable, I want it to be fun. I want to get into a car and drive across the city in awesome car chases rather than get annoyed when I have to get into a car that handles like an elephant.

Here's a collection of several professional opinions and user opinions. Professional opinions are good but I'd pay attention to the user scores to get a real idea of the game.

Customization is amazing, though.

*shrug* Can't say much for missions (ONly played about 3 hours. 1 hour was waiting for a freind to finish customizing.)

played the beta with a group of friends, most of us got invited to the "public test world" (post release test server) too.

the game has some good potential but there are far too many game-breaking (mainly the matchmaking and lack of variation in missions, as nanor pointed out) and rage inducing problems to make it worth the sub in my opinion.

@nanor - by non-locational i presume you mean "no headshots"? perfectly understandable for an MMO.
also, LTL weapons are by no means overpowered. they take longer to stun than their lethal counterparts take to kill, and you also have the problem of being exposed while arresting _on top_ of the extra time it takes to do so.

I fondly remember in the beta discovering the pig stun gun. One shot and the person was on their knees for a good 30 seconds meaning I could arrest him. If I didn't have time I could have just shot him execution style and there was nothing he could do.

it has a 5 inch range. if you let someone get that close they'd have got you without it :p

Hoy, :)

I have a close friend who has adopted this game as his new MTS (Masstive Time Sink :D). He swears by the game, and I trust his opinion on games rather highly.

Alas, the very theme of the game ([dis]organized crime) is just not for me, so I'll be giving it a pass. But I did see him playing and found it quite interesting, game-play-wise.

Yes, even if the driving is a bit lag-clunky... :)

Cheers,
J.
