Don't think this really applies to anyone but ghostwolf and myself, as it seems we're the only ones who bought it, but the first major patch has arrived for ArmA 2. Fixing stuff including enemy infantry having better hearing than Daredevil, numerous problems with campaign triggers and soforth:

Major AI tweaking and balancing (especially AI infantry can hear much less)

Improved multiplayer and cooperative campaign (saving games, connection issues)

Numerous fixes and improvements in the Harvest Red campaign

Maybe this may encourage a few more people to give this game a shot, which it thoroughly deserves.

The orders interface still needs to feel my boot up its ass though.

I'm actually pretty interested in ArmA 2. Just haven't had opportunity to check it out, yet. Keep the posts coming and I'll hopefully get a look sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Piacular, Bambi and I were pretty disappointed with it. MP was laggy as hell, meaning everyone (even your) movements were jumpy. Just made it unplayable, in my eyes. Coop would have been awesome too :(

Still, might see if the patch has done anything for it!

That's interesting el, we haven't really had any particular issues with lag, but i suppose it may depend on what servers we've been playing on.

The ideal situation would be to get a group of ~6 or so and do some of the pre packaged missions as a squad. Those are a good laugh as long as the APC is killed early and often.

I havent noticed much of a difference since the patch. Though i guess the game never really had major issues on my computer since i started running it in windowed mode.

The saving multiplayer game wise is a must really. There just arent enough hours in the day to play through some of the missions with one or more ppl.

Lag and stability is still a problem in multiplayer though. Especially doing the co-op campaign missions. In a game when one bullet can kill you lagging out isnt really the best way to enhance the gaming experience.

A new patch (1.04) is allegedly being released today. The download links aren't yet available so I suspect that they've accidentally uploaded the update page but the dates are quite specific.
