Armed Assault.

Hey guys,

For fans of modern war arcade/simulations, I'd just like to draw your attention to the following information.

http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/armedassault/index.html

The game is called Armed Assault and is effectively the spiritual successor to Operation Flashpoint.

It's not called OFP2 because the developers sold the rights to that game to their publisher. They dissappointingly fell out with them over the ridiculously long development time of the sequel and the fact that the developers were not happy about being pushed to deadlines with an unfinished game. Luckily for us they all fecked off and created the sequel anyway, but with a different name. :)

This game promises to be one of the most realistic simulations on the market and is being used as a RL army simulator.

Features include massive game environments, completely free form gameplay, go anywhere do anything to achieve your mission, an extensive list of ingame vehicles that can be operated, squad command, etc... The list goes on.

The graphics are not the most amazing on the market but this game is all about content.

Perhaps the most interesting prospect is that the games multiplayer mode is claiming that it can effectively allow an unlimited amount of players to join any one instance online. The only restriction being server speed and connection speed. This obviously makes the game VERY exiting if they can pull it off. Unfortunately OFP was a bit of a bitch to play online as the net code was awful. If they can nail that and get the vehicle balance right. This could be one of the most ambitious and successful war simulations to be released.

Here's hoping. :D
