Personally I take it all as fantasy but the real world cultural references do help make it feel more "real". As for offence, until they include a race based around a lancashire dimwhit I doubt I'm going to get to experience what it feels like :) but I don't think I'd be offended by a virtual race borrowing my accent and a few of my cultural styles. If something is worth borrowing then its possibly also worth being proud of that fact.

Whack it in the soap box... though I haven't yet read it, it most likely has some relevance outside of WoW.
