Battifeld Bad Company 2 "Unable to connect to EA servers"

Recently bought BFBC2 from steam and when i go to the games browser, it either searches indefinately or comes up with "Unable to connect to EA servers, please try again."

I tried something that was suggested a number of times, going into command prompt and typing in:

netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled

Didnt change anything.

Ive tried port forwarding but with no luck. I mentioned it to some of the guys i work with and as soon as i mentioned i had a BT Home Hub, they were like get a new router it should sort the problem. Is this true? If so is there any recommendable routers that arent too costly (preferably any in argos as i have a voucher there :p)

It works fine on my BT Hub, thought i get that error, its not recurring. Is this error before logging in, or after?

After which is the curious bit, i can log in fine and ive tried Join Game option but on the few times that worked it put me in empty servers.

ensure that it's being allowed through the Windows Firewall if you have it enabled, also ensure that punkbuster is updated.

On a BT homehub myself and have very few issues with it.

Windows Firewall blocked Bad Company 2 and 1 copy of PunkbusterA and PunkbusterB. Downloaded the punkbuster updater and updated it. Enabled the third punkbuster that popped up on firewall. Still nada :( Im sure itl be something trivial but cant think what >.<

It seems to be finding servers for me now, so ty for zee help! guess i needed to reset the computer after doing all of the stuff above :)
