Battle for Wesnoth is a hex, turn based, strategy game. There are numerous campaigns and loads of addons (Which I can't figure out how to work yet) for plenty of fun.
You play through numerous campaigns as a race. You get the usual type, elves, humans, orcs, dwarves but you have a few other ones like undead armies and a race of werewolf type things. The idea is you buy units using money you get per turn from towns. You use these units to kill other units and get XP until your unit upgrades and becomes more powerful. The unit upgrades are awesome, there are so many different units and they all have special abilities like poison and the like.
It's fun, relatively small at ~150MB and ,most importantly, it's free! It can be played on Windows, Linux or Mac and you can grab it and read more about it here.
It even has multiplayer so if anyone is up for a game when they get the hang of it I should be up for it.
