Battlefield 2142 Participation

Right then... Basically with the recent release of games such as TF2 and CoD4 the interest in having a 2142 clan in ED seems to have died.

At the moment we have just one 2142 match scheduled which I believe is not going to happen.

I am perfectly happy to try and get us some more matches, but I (we) need to know if the interest is still there to play in clan matches.

We would still need enough interest that we can field a 6 man team at least once a week.

If not, I would like to propose that we leave the ED 2142 ladder and then concentrate on a game such as CoD4 or TF2 for our clan matching, as this is a part of what makes up THN

A discussion on teamspeak last night had at least 4 or 5 of us definitely interested in a CoD4 clan, and if enough people are interested I see no reason why we can't shut off the 2142 server on promethius and replace it with a CoD server.

From my perspective, there's no rush to shut off the BF2142 server so I leave this entirely up to the clan players. However, the server receives no traffic outside of you so if it's not needed then reclaiming the resources for other games would be a good idea.

Call of Duty 4 has not yet released a linux binary, but apparently it is on its way. Once that is available, I'm happy to get that uploaded to Promethius and get a game server set up for it. I don't have CoD4 so I'd need one of you guys to do my testing for me.

Just let me know which way you'd like to jump.

people did care it's just the game has become less popular over the time it's been available. It never made it to the top really and now CoD4 is out i would be interested in participating with that

I think the problem is just a case of a bit too late. Especially as we only have enough people vaguely interested to play INF only where most of the clans are well established or just clans that don't turn up. Had it got sorted much earlier in the year then I'd be more enthused but I've played it into the ground now and with TF2 and COD4 out being fresh and enjoyable and as I'm not a big fan of the INF only stuff I haven't been enjoying the 2142 all that much. I'm happy to play if you need me but am not that all that fussed.

A shame it's over so quickly, I do believe we were getting better. We did manage 2 wins from about 5 or 6 games which would have improved.

Thanks to the guys who organised it all. I think BF2142 is a bloody good game and COD4 better be worth it!!!

It's a shame, really was a case of too little too late, I know that I've had problems with comittment and such, and for that i'm sorry, hence i'm being much more cautious about the TF2 scene. We were getting better hotstuff, no doubt about it, but if the interest is wainning then it's far better to move onto a game more people can enjoy now, rather than wait till thats dying out too.

It's because at first everyone was either burned out of BF2, or went on a wild anti-EA 'I HATE IN GAME ADVERTISING! YAAAA BOOO! ID LIKE SOME GAME WITH MY PATCHES PLEASE!' rant that put everyone off until they eventually tried it and realised it was good, but the charm had already started to wane at that point! Anyway, I find CoD4 far more interesting now but I wouldn't rush into matches so hastily because some people will need to come to grips with the game first, and there're a hell of a lot of clans out there that have hardened themselves on CoD and CoD2 who would absolutely wipe the floor with us. Still, wouldn't say no to a server
