I came across this article on the BBC website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/hottopics/climatechange/
which at the moment is on the front page. It's an experiment, very much like the Folding@Home experiment that DocBot introduced to us where users donate spare CPU time towards massive online calculations. In this case, it's predicting world climate change.
It's simple to use; if you want to take part in the experiment click the link that says so on the page. You can then download the program that does this experiment. You are asked to provide log in details, and you will have your own online profile related to your contribution to the experiment. It can also run as a screensaver.
I have created a THN team which you can join once you have got it all up and running here:
http://bbc.cpdn.org/team_display.php?teamid=215
Just click the Join link and you will be part of the THN team.
Of course, this will conflict with DocBot's folding@home as it wouldn't be possible to do both on the one computer. I don't want to draw users away from the folding@home team, but if anyone has more than one computer where they could spare time to do this experiment aswell, or if you want to juggle between the two experiments then that would be great.
Of course, you don't have to join at all
