Best guitarist Ever

Ok guys thought I'd start a little debate here.

Now too many people say that "Jimmy Hendrix" was the best guitarist ever. He may have been the best (technical) guitar player ever, However I would class the best guitar player as not just there technical abillities playing a guitar but the ability to write amazing guitar riffs, or solo's.

I would probably pick Carlos Santana or Jimmy Page as although the others are great guitarists, I like the work of these two better and think there songs -Interms of the guitar work in them - Are the shiz .

For sheer technical ability probably Joe Satriani. For best rock god (and hairiness) I would consider slash.

There are soo many. Personally I'd have to say Eddie van Halen who managed to invent two new ways to play guitar by himself. A prime example would be Eruption.

Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Zakk Wylde... All have alarmingly abnormal names, yet are great guitar players.

Brian May and Joe Perry have produced some anthemic riffs. Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix were undoubtably the pioneers of their respective genres. Chris Cornell, Tom Morello and Trent Reznor the meisters of Grunge and Industrial.

For me at the moment, I have to shoot with Rodrigo Y Gabriela. Two amazing guitarist who play heavy music acoustically and pull it off (Unlike that shameful nirvana unplugged effort). That or Jose Gonzalez.
