BF2142 ingame ads might just not be!

Come across this this morning. Seems EA are asking the 2142 "community" for images to display ingame, on those annoying advert billboards.

Now maybe, just maybe, EA added the billboards NOT (just) to get more money from ingame adverts (though I've seen the ones for Euro Forces and Armoured Fury way too much!), but as a way of involving the community to add something back into the game? No, you're right, that's just a silly idea!

However, here's hoping that people might just go for ideas that fit in with the game, and add to the atmosphere. And here's hoping even more so that EA will pick those that add to the atmosphere as the winners!

I feel this is ment to be a dig at me, but I'm going to agree with you there! The real men fight with jets!

I thought ingame dynamic advertising was a pretty neat idea, pity no-one else thought so . Maybe your average BF2142 player doesn't have that much disposable income.

i'm still not that fussed by the whole advertising thing as i tend to go around killing ppl when i play 2142 so if there is a bill board with an ad on it then i never notice,hehehe basically i play in a bit of a daze so it makes very little difference to me either way. I as yet have only seen one and i like the core duo ads so i didn't mind.

However i like the idea of user art, if this works well then should be good.

Why is such a fuss being made over this, when I drive to work every day, I don't give a toss about the bill boards with ad's on them, so why should I bother about them in BF2142?

The way I see it is if it stops EA from charging a monthly fee to pay it (like WoW ) then in game advertising is a good thing! If it's just to put a bit more cash into the pockets of those monkies at EA then screw that! Anyways, I'm with Bob, I don't notice the ads (tbh I didn't know they'd put real ads in anyway!). Anyways, user art can't be a bad thing!
