BF3 Open Beta

Apparently the PC version is hard to get due to Origin (wait for it) being unable to meet demand!

On top of demand you missed expectations and a valid reason why it should exist. Its unable to meet those things too. (Talking about origin to clarify)

Played a round and really enjoyed it. Guns feel more accurate than BFBC2 but more realistically inaccurate than the point and click that is COD. Look forward to playing more :)

I'm all for hating Origin, but the same thing happens on steam every time there's a notable release.

I really dont notice any such issues - sure it's a bit slower at busy times, but stuff still works.

Issues I have with Origin...

When I had issues with EA downloader an EA support admin used my current in game name for my account merge with Origin. Now I have "three" as bloody username and now soldier name!

Its clunky and the service it provides me with is already available somewhere else! (Steam)

I cant stand how all new games are Origin dependant (FIFA12, BF3 etc.)

Personally think they have looked at what Valve are doing with steam and thought... "hey why dont we do that"

As for BF3 I am not liking the web interface for the game, it needs heavy improvements for me to enjoy using it. The game itself its actually really fun, its very much like all Battlefield BF2 meets BFBC2 and I think that was the main goal.

The weapons are incredibly accurate and I'm not noticing much bullet drop. There is little recoil on the weapons and they fire "dead on" pretty much all the time.

In my opinion some aspects need fixing and a few visuals would be nice and tie in with the "Realistic Experience" like tracer rounds for squad leaders and more soldier shouting would be nice during fire fights.

All in all its just a new game and its awesome.. I'm going to enjoy owning it more than I enjoy owning some other EA titles.

Aside from "Steam servers are too busy to process this request" when you go to start a game, sure.

Which i almost never get, and at least i can still play other steam games when something goes awry with one. I'm willing to bet that if BF3 cocks up on Origin, it's Origin dying for every game.

Hate to agree with D, but Steam wasn't exactly perfect when it started up.

I think the key point is that as with any service, there's going to be growing pains at the start. However, we've all been through those pains with Steam, and don't really feel we want to again. Steam broke the ice, and captured most of the market place. We all already have a hub for our gaming, and it isn't Games For Windows Lame.

God you grumpy sods must be getting old.

How did this thread turn into a pointless Origin vs. Steam / Origin is shit thread? :p

Helloooo you can play BF3 for free right now, less moaning more fragging. Only reason I'm not is cos I don't have the time spare :(

That error blocks access to ALL your games, by the way. It's likely a regional thing, but I get it here pretty much every time there's a notable release or a patch for one and I try to play anything.

I have to admit, I very rarely see this problem, and when it does, I can normally still play other games, but if those games are Steam cloud-enabled then I find that the cloud parts fail horribly
