Here it is: The final standings, and schedule for semifinals.

Trax vs Panda with issues...
Ronin Storm vs Waterproofbob

Trax's draw against ghostwolf meant that there would not be an immediate repeat of the Coffin Dodgers vs Bobrek's Bastards.

Hey Ronin,

Ideally I'd like to play today if possible, coming week I'm working everyday. Otherwise am working an early monday so am done by 3. Or if you'd prefer later I'm not starting until 1pm on Thursday so Wednesday night could work.

Well, in what was one of the most brutal games I've played, I beat Panda into the Finals.

A write up just won't do it justice, so here is the replay from my PoV.

p.s. The Legendary Edition Replays appear to be able to be larger than Dark Elves so I can't add it as an attachment to THN

Well, a brutal game between myself and trax ended up with my other level 3 ghoul dead, a bunch of injured players for trax, and a ground out win for trax's twerps.

Ultimately the game was decided on the first kickoff result, a pitch invasion which left 5 of the coffin dodgers (including their entire right flank defence) stunned. Trax didn't even have to break through. A blitz knocked his streaking ball carrier off the pitch, but left both werewolves well out of position, and when the ball came back in the pitch well in open space, there was nothing the coffin dodgers could really do to prevent the score.

The rest as the game was brutal and hard as nails, as the coffin dodgers desperately tried to break through the twerps solid defensive efforts. By turn 14, they were within scoring distance with a cage against the sideline, but a real hero play from traxallowed him to blitz into 2 tackle zones to make a 1 dice block, which came up flash, pushing the coffin dodgers ball carrier off the pitch. THe ball came back in a reall inconvenient position for the coffin dodgers, who managed to pick it up in turn 15 and set up for a last ditch play to score in the final turn to take it to overtime, if they could just hold on to the ball...

Out of rerolls, trax's blitz on the ball carrier ended in a push, and he had to settle for surrounding the wight holding the ball with players. In the coffin dodger's final turn, after some blocks and a blitz, a route was opened for the ball carrier to make a handoff to a werewolf free for a touchdown, but the dodge by the ball carrier was failed, eating up the final reroll. All hinged on a final, 3+ handoff, which failed, ending the coffin dodger's season at the semi final stage.

A really good game played by trax. Maybe next season, maybe next season...

Today isn't a good day for me, unfortunately.

Of those options, Wednesday evening would work hands-down best with me as I'm prepping for a new contract tomorrow afternoon. That okay for you?

On a separate note to the play-offs, thank you to everyone for a really good season. That was a whole lot of game and a whole lot of weeks and we actually made the vast majority of our games despite computer failures and some pretty serious illnesses.

Well done everyone!

No details yet on League #3 but watch this space, though I imagine we'll be taking a short break first.

Amen to that Ronin, i reckon we should be looking at a June or later kick-off, to give uni people time to finish off projects and work people time to get holidays booked.

Depends how we do the league. I thought we could practically create an "Auld World" style league now as a private league? Rather than having to have specific matches and weeks assigned to people...

This would mean it wouldn't matter when the league started, as people would be able to join and leave freely whenever, and would be a THN league for real, as opposed to the "tournament" style play we've had so far.

It was the play-off the Storm Heroes were dreading, not least because they never expected to make it this far. The Dwarves are always tough hombres but the Heroes had terrified memories of their last encounter where their desperate attempts towards the endzone were brutally countered and the Dwarven cage was nigh-on unstoppable.

To add the fun, the Heroes were down two players. Both a blitzer, Dwayne Hicks, and the Heroes' quarterback, James Darrel Edwards. Having also had a death in last week's game against Da Medikz, that both put them a man under and key players out. How could this game ever go well?

Demoralised murmurings were all that broke the subdued pre-game silence in the Heroes' locker room. Coach Storm knew that games were won or lost on a team's willingness to bring their A-game and this would never do. He also had an ace up his sleeve. Stepping into the midst, the team were loathe to even raise their heads.

"Team, we've fought a long way to get here," Coach Storm began. "But this is the play-offs. Thought we'd never get here, but we did. So, here's a little present for you."

So saying, a couple of exceptionally perky ladies in skimpy outfits and Bloodweiser logos dragged a cask of that special brew into the locker room. The team smiled at the sight but even the thought of end-of-drive drinks couldn't quite get their spirits out of the gutter.

"Of course, that's just the icing on the cake. I know we're a man down and that Edwards can't make it here today. I've asked a friend to step in to take up the slack."

A giant shadow filled the doorway and a booming voice greeted the Heroes. None other than Morg 'n' Thorg wearing the Heroes' colours. And there it was, the spark, the desire to win rekindled. The Heroes ran onto the pitch with one thought in mind: "we just might do it". They barely noticed the league-assigned journeyman who creeped in behind Morg.

Heroes won the toss and elected to kick first, thinking that if they could just keep the Bast4rds slowed down they might make something of a second half drive. Morg took a place alongside William Wallace, the Heroes' new and surprisingly intelligent Ogre. The evil deathroller took centre place across from them, ready to do some serious damage.

The Dwarf line hit hard, slamming Wallace to the ground but bouncing off Morg as if he were made of rock. The thundering assault of a Troll Slayer left its mark, though, as the nameless journeyman fell down stone-cold dead at the onslaught. (It was remarked later that this journeyman may have been part of some illicit blood rite undertaken by Heroes' fans to ensure their victory.)

Unfortunately the Bast4rds had some trouble with ball handling in the backfield and their progress was slow. They recovered quickly, however, and their nearly unbreakable cage formed just off the line of scrimmage. Heroes, one man down, eyed their options. Knowing that to not intervene would just mean this cage of death would march slowly to victory, they chose action over shadowing and the blitzers peeled off speedily to make holes in the back of the cage, while Wallace and Morg held up the front.

The dwarves threw the blitzers back, but with Morg piling through the front the blitz continued to press. In this press, Butrekson, the star dwarven runner, took a violent blow from Dutch, Heroes' powerful blitzer, and was dragged from the field. Medics initially called it as a fractured leg but the attending apothecary has reported it was just a pinched nerve and that Butrekson would be back for next season, albeit missing the final.

With Butrekson down, one of the Troll Slayers made it his mission to free the cage of the intruding Morg but while he succeeded at pushing him back, he was soon on his arse in the dirt. The Heroes kept pushing, seeing the fear in Ekrason's eyes as he clutched the ball. A moment later, a sack by Luc Deveraux pushed the ball free on the human side of the line.

Dwarves scrambled to recover the ball, knocking humans aside left and right. In the tumble, the ball rolled into the middle of a dwarven bundle. It was here that Frank Castle struck hard, injuring a Troll Slayer badly and gaining room for Morg to put a brutal block on the deathroller, opening a small hole. That's all it took for Jimmy Dix, the Heroes' backup thrower, to nimbly dodge in, grab the ball out from under the dwarves' noses and dodge back out into open space. The Heroes' fans went wild as they could see empty space between Jimmy and the endzone. It wasn't to last as the other Troll Slayer broke free of the pack and got hands to Jimmy, though failed to put him down.

The Heroes quickly maneuvered to support Jimmy, with Morg taking a central blocking role to hold up the dangerous blitzers, and some strong counter-blitzing to keep Jimmy safe. With a few minutes still to play for, Jimmy handed off the ball to John Rambo who blazed down the pitch to put the first touchdown home. 1-0 to the Heroes.

With two injuries and the deathroller sent off for being, well, totally illegal, the Bast4rds were down two players going into the short pre-half drive, made slightly longer by the referee getting confused during a small riot in the stands.

The dwarf ball-handling skills once again let them down as they tried to make a quick rush down one flank, leaving the ball on the floor. The Heroes, despite outnumbering the dwarves, were unable to capitalise on the mistake and the first half ended 1-0.

The Heroes received the ball at the beginning of the second half, but not before the Bast4rds sprinted off the D-line to try to bring an early sack. Pressing hard on the Heroes' left flank, they stunned John McClane and made a hole ripe for imminent revenge.

Jimmy, feeling more confident after a strong first half, audibled for support and the team wrapped back to protect his dash for the ball. Where one lone defender held the line, suddenly two more were at his side. One for all, all for one. On the line, the fearsome power of Morg 'n' Thorg smashed a blocker's hand, sending yet another dwarf to the casualties box. Things were going well for the humans despite the early blitz. What happened next surprised everyone...

An exceptional blitz from Skudalson knocked Scott McCoy, the Heroes' least experience linesman, clean out and shoved the defenders towards the sideline. This has the unfortunate effect of putting John Rambo right out on the edge next to the Troll Slayer. Moments later, his life was flashing before his eyes as he flew into the crowd. The apothecary was later to diagnose a near-death experience but that Rambo would be making it to his next game despite a fractured skull.

Seeing their defence collapsing, the humans fought to contain the surge of oncoming dwarves. Jimmy, still open in the backfield, saw his time was running very short. Like a flash, he raced into midfield, pressing hard to close the gap with an open man on the other wing. A short pass dropped straight into the waiting hands of Simon Phoenix who began his rush down field. From what seemed like an inevitable sack, this sudden reversal had the Heroes' fans screaming with approval. With some nimble footwork that belied his size, Morg even managed to maneuver himself as a shield to keep Simon safe, at least temporarily.

Or so he thought. Ekrason, dwarven blitzer, broke away from Wallace and crashed headlong into Simon, slamming him to the floor. The ball rolled free and the dwarves still looked very much in the game.

More shoving, more blocks, as both sides struggled to take control of the ball. Wallace, embarrassed by losing grip on the blitzer, righted the world (in his eyes at least) by stunning a Troll Slayer set on assisting. From behind, Dutch was hit hard by a dwarven blocker, stunning him in a tit-for-tat exchange. The ball rolled into tentatively dwarf-controlled field. All the while, John McClane and dwarven runner Glangan engaged in an inconclusive-but-impressive headbutting match near the Heroes' endzone.

Morg broke ranks to assist with taking back control of the ball, the humans successfully forming a loose cage around it as they struggled to find someone safe to pick it up. Incredibly, despite a total lack of support, dwarf blocker Amek slammed into the cage, knocked a man loose, then picked up the ball himself. Dwarven fans went wild with excitement at this unprecedented feat. Dwarf after dwarf, spurred by the crowd, swarmed towards the ball. Here was their chance to get even...

But from the floor, Dutch sacked the blocker and the ball flew free. Bounce after bounce, it flew from dwarf to dwarf until landing yards away in the hands of Skudalson the Bast4rds' blitzer. It didn't stay there long, as another sack by Morg knocked the ball free again. No bouncing this time, as it dropped straight into the waiting hands of the Troll Slayer. Awed by this stunning show of dwarven dexterity, the humans scrambled to try to control the situation only to happen a few moments later at the hands of Luc Deveraux, knocking the ball free into the field, but once again in human control. Scott McCoy, taking this chance to prove himself as useful despite his junior status, ran through the line to pick up the ball and move it down field.

In a last ditch attempt, the recently dazed Skudalson scrambled after McCoy to try to shut this attempt down but Morg, in what can only be described as a moment of lethal clumsiness, stepped back onto Skudalson's scrabbling body. The sound of bones breaking was eagerly replayed on every monitor and reports of Skudalson's death were taken hard by the dwarven crowd.

Now nothing between McCoy and the endzone, the humans pushed the score to 2-0 with only a short time to go before the final whistle.

Despite the near-hopeless situation, the Bast4rds stayed true to their fans and meeted out punishment where ever they could. The last few minutes were filled with brutal blocks both ways but neither side could put themselves in any position to affect the score.

Final score, 2-0, and the Heroes go forward to the final, which is probably fortunate as the Bast4rds would have trouble fielding a full roster.
