Vel and I just played... 2-0 win to Vel.
In a game that could have gone either way, a couple of critical failures let my team down. The first in my 7th turn, where after the match had turned into a massive fight in the middle of the park and my secret weapons were starting to really shine (example: the fanatic sent EVERY opponent he hit to the floor), I made it halfway into Vel's half with 3 goblins, one of whom carrying the ball. He then managed to nick the ball back, but I was sat in prime position to at least mark the ball carrier, if I wasn't able to knock him down. Instead I went for a block with my Looney (chainsaw)... who rolled a 1, failed, hurt himself and prompty caused a turnover, leaving his ball carrier able to slip into a gap in the middle of the field, hand-off the ball to a werewolf, and as the last action of the first half, score a touchdown.
I then got my defensive line massively wrong in the restart, allowing Vel an easy(ish) second TD.
Then, in what could have been the start of something brilliant, I received the kick off, gave the ball to a gobbo stood next to an unmarked troll, used the troll to throw the gobbo over Vel's defensive line, went running for the touchdown line.... and failed the second of two going for it rolls I needed to make.
This match then turned into a brawl again and only some excellent last ditch defending and a couple of turnovers from Vel meant he didn't score again.
