I've rolled the league into week 4 a little early as all games are complete and I know Trax needs to play his game before the weekend as he's away next week. Week 5 will still start on Sunday 16 January as expected.

As of the end of week 3, no teams have a perfect record, though bobrek's Bast4rds haven't yet lost a game (2-1-0). Highest valued team is the second ranked Huung's Hoppers at 1.32M gold, with the closest following value a good 100K behind (Velamantics).

Going into week 4, some announcements about notable players:

Daugorathion Vanval of Trax's Twerps is considered the most experienced player of the league, closely followed by Carnosoatz of The Lustria Rampage, largely because that lizard holds the most touchdowns so far.

The passing crown sits firmly with Berethalu of Huung's Hoppers but the longest ground game is with Corpsepesterer of the Coffin Dodgers, closely followed by Butrekson of bobrek's Bast4rds. Receivers are less distinguished but Horthborn Norosumé of Trax's Twerps leads the pack.

Leading the violence is Hollow of the Coffin Dodgers with a nod to Frank Castle of Storm Heroes for punching well above his weight.

Fixtures for this week:

  • (lucius101) The Lustria Rampage vs The Chocolate Chunks (thatbloke)
  • (comrade_phil) Spike-a-thon vs bobrek's Bast4rds (waterproofbob)
  • (Ronin Storm) Storm Heroes vs Coffin Dodgers (Panda with issues...)
  • (Traxata) Trax's Twerps vs Huung's Hoppers (Huung)
  • (Velaphor) Velamantics vs Speedfreakz (Dragon)
  • (BiG D) D's Feeders vs Da Medikz (Kateryne)
  • (Gombol) Tomb K1ngs vs Gallpeak Facemaulers (Ghostwolf67)

I don't acknowledge that any beatdown is even likely to occur.

Week is a little unknown at this moment; may be just about to pull in ~12 days work, or not. Should know tomorrow or Monday latest, then will start to form plans.

I'm around this afternoon, should be able to play then.

Poke me on steam, and if I'm not responding leave a message here and I'll see it here

Just played my match against lucius.

Not realising before the match that he was a lizardmen team, I suddenly became VERY worried as the last two lizardmen teams I played caused SEVERE damage to my team.

A very close match, with lucius taking the lead in the 3rd turn. He stacked his saurus against one of my trolls and managed to not suffer too much at the hands of my Fanatic. This then led him to take the troll out and bash a gaping hole on my left flank. Despite some desperate attempts at defending by some goblins rushing in from the right, he Badly hurt my pogoer and then strolled through with some excellent dodging to take a TD. 1-0 to lucius.

At the restart, I picked up the ball and ran for one of my trolls - next turn I attempted to launch the ball carrier over the Lizardmen back line and stroll to the touchline, however the throw failed and the goblin was left there wondering what the troll was trying to do with him.... Realising that that tactic wouldn't work I then caged up the ball and punched a goblin-sized hole through the centre of lucius' defence. This led to me being able to equalise as the last action of the first half. 1-1.

Both teams then lined up for the start of the second half, with me receiving, and after getting the ball the initial scuffles were rather ineffective with a couple of quick turnovers. Now with 2 of my 3 secret weapons having been used in the first half and being rather ineffective so far (the bombardier had to launch a bomb 3 unobstructed squares at a group of skinks, and needing a 4+, rolled a 1. To try and prevent a turnover I used a reroll, and got ANOTHER 1...) I had brought my final secret weapon on, the Looney (chainsaw).

Although he knocked a troll out of action, causing him to receive a niggling injury (+1 to any subsequent injury rolls... though only after the apothecary changed that from a -1 to strength... NOT what I want with a troll!) my Looney managed to badly hurt a saurus, which caused enough of a distraction to allow my ball carrier to make it through the defensive line and, with some expert dodging and a nice blitz action removing a defensive player from the path to the touchdown line, I scored again. 2-1 to the goblins.

4 turns to go after that, and I decided to just play a little more defensively, however from this point on 1 was most definitely the favourite number of the dice, as a large number of 1's and attacker down or both down results started showing up on all the dice - for example, lucius tried a block on a gobbo with 3 dice, got 2 attacker down and 1 both down result, re-rolled and got 1 attacker down and 2 both down results. In addition, despite having AG3, his skinks on the back line missed 3 chances to catch or pick up the ball.

A last-gasp dash for the line at the end failed with me just needed to make a 3+ to pick up the ball and be able to get to the TD line, but the Blood Bowl gods wouldn't allow it and the bad dice (for both players) resulted in the match fizzling out somewhat after my second TD.

Final score: The Lustria Rampage (lucius) 1-2 The Chocolate Chunks (me)

I just want to point out, that the standings are not what would be expected for a football style league, and seem to be based on team value, more than anything else. What do people feel about this in terms of potential playoff places at the end?

Should we: A) let the league (and cyanide) sort it out in the way it wants to.

or B), check tiebreakers, and use standard qualifiers, I.E: Points first, head to head record, then goal difference, then goals scored, then finally team value?

I would suggest checking to see how different each outcome might be - chances are they may well not be that different.

That may be the case, but I'd like to get a group decision reasonably soon, as it could be important late on, and people will argue with less bias since everything is currently still up for grabs ;)

I think this came to my notice as Huung (with a 2-0-2 record) is above about 5 or six teams with the same points currently (6) but with records of 2-0-1. I.E., despite having lost his 4th week game, whilst players that at WORST, end up on the same points as him are below.

Now, it is possible that the positioning algorithm only kicks in at the end of each week, but I SUSPECT, that cyanide just ranks TV as the next most important factor, rather than W-L record and so on.
