So, Huung and I had our game, a very close affair made tighter by sweltering heat knocking out a bunch of our players on every drive. The pitch was very open, mitigating my massive guard advantage, and maximising Huung's wood elves' speed and agility.
Huung's disgusting AG5 thrower made the most of the speed advantage, after a wardancer broke through my defensive line, and sat in the endzone, waiting for the reception. There was nothing the coffin dodgers could do, but I had at least forced Huung to score quickly, leaving time on the clock for the coffin dodgers to reciprocate. After Huung's TD, the sweltering heat began, and the pitch began to empty.
Fun fact, I played without both my wights for the remainder of the game, as they spent the rest of the game lazing around on the sideline, moaning about heatstroke.
Huung was adept at putting the ball out of the pitch for a touchback, meaning I could put the ball where I needed it. THe second half was a tough grind, as I pushed the ball forward. I had for players out from heatstroke, Huung had 2 KO's in his injury box. I had more subs though, so the numbers on the pitch were roughly even. Two quick injuries on Huung's elves quickly left me stronger though to start the second half.
Even though the numbers were against him, Huung made the most of his disgusting +MV strip ball wardancer, leaping into my cage, stealing the ball, but leaving the wardancer surrounded by angry coffin dodgers. My next turn, I tried to extract the ball, but it took 4 blocks and finally a frenzied werewolf blitz (second block) FINALLY turned up a flash. However, I'd pushed out the ball outside the area dominated by my players, and into a zone controlled roughly 50/50 with Huung near the right sideline. I finished up my turn putting an extra TZ on the ball...
...Which didn't matter a bit, as Huung's sickening AG5 strong arm thrower picked up the ball without a problem, made a dodge, then pelted it deep towards another goalhanging wardancer, about 2/3 of the way down the pitch. The pass went incomplete, scattering near the left sideline, and then back towards the halfway line, finally ending up about halfway between the half way line and my endzone, 2 squares from the sideline.
I was in real trouble now, as only my werewolf could get to the ball (needing two GFIs). Huung's wardancer was the closest player to the ball, and nearest to my endzone. Luckily I had a ghoul and a zombie in range of the wardancer to get a 2DB blitz. I went for the blitz, and luck favoured me, putting the wardancer down, stunned, my werewolf then made the 2 gfi's and recovered the ball.
It was tough for Huung now, as I had a serious edge in players, and I caged up the ball, and began to grind towards the endzone, and the 2-1 win. Huung valiently stripped the ball again with his wardancer, but wasn't as fortunate with the scatter, and the ball ended up in the hands of one of my werewolf cage corners. After clearing the tacklezones off the ball carrier, I finally scored in turn 16, to win 2-1.
Huung ended up with another point of movement on the +MV strip ball wardancer, leaving him a devastating MV 10 leap dodge ag4 one turn TD threat.
Thanks for a great game Huung, made all the more fun by the end to end nature, after the sweltering heat.
