Windows XP
Click the Start button and then hit run type dxdiag
After DirectX loads up go to the sound tab
On the hardware acceleration slider, back it down 2 notches to the left to basic acceleration
Then goto the control panel and pick sound and audio devices
Under speaker settings hit the advanced tab
Hit the performance tab and check that the acceleration has been backed down to basic there as well.
Restart is recommended for some.
This should work for some people. Worked for me and a few others on the World of Warcraft forums. If it still does not work after this, log into the game interface and back down the sound channels sliders there all the way to the left. (lowest settings)
'Tis worth a try.
