[Bug: Unconfirmed] Possible Shoutbox problem?

Ok now I seem to have an annoying problem with the shoutbox. As you all know I spend way too much time spamming it so I know how it works :D

Basically, every so often my cursor disappears. This is annoying when you have dyslexic fingers and have to go back and correct stuff... I don't know where I am!

Now I'm not sure if this is a shoutbox-only issue or if it is a more general problem, or how many people this affects. I also do not (yet) have a set of repeatable circumstances that I can create this under...

I am using the latest version of Firefox (2.0.0.6 I believe) on Vista home premium . At home I use FF with windows XP, but atm I cannot recall experiencing it on XP. (but that isn't to say it's not there :D)

It's only supposed to be sporadically used, you probably have worn it out :D.

Re: Possible Shoutbox problem?

i've had this problem many times in Firefox under Windows, Linux and OS X using several different versions, i think it's probably something to do with Geco as i've never seen it in IE on the few occasions that i have used it

Re: Possible Shoutbox problem?

Cursor visibility isn't something that the shoutbox controls, except perhaps if it is messing with control focus from time to time. I haven't noticed this issue but I'll keep my eyes open.

Let me know if you get closer to pinning down what seems to cause it for you.

unsure what causes it, but I do get it quite often. It seems to be once you've posted once, possibly after an edit sometimes (although i'm not sure on this). I've never once had it on arriving on the page, it's always after several posts, and once posted it comes back fine and dandy

i finally understand what is going on.

when you edit a shout the cursor disappears until the page is refreshed so when the shout is edited the cursor remains in the edit text box until the page is refreshed.

how to fix this i don't know but i will play a bit more see if i can work out a fix

Ah, hmm, I understand. I could probably redirect the focus manually from the hidden element. I'll give that some thought.

Good work, IF. :)
