[Bug: Unconfirmed] shoutbox redraws

So when you put smilies in the shoutbox and then sit there idling the shoutbox refreshes.

The issue you ask? The page appears to be moving all over the place as it seems to re-parse the text used as the smiley and therefore redraw it. But because it appears as text momentarily it gives the impression that someone is adding/editing the shoutbox... which isn't true because it's just some weird redraws.

Is this perhaps a limitation of the editing functionality?

Now I've noticed it jumping about all over the place I can't not notice it :(

i can't really comment as i'm using an ATI card under linux (it looks about as good as that pile of horse crap that bob posted yesterday :p) but it may have been something to do with the stupid number of shouts that were made yesterday and the fact that the archive seems to be clearing it's self more than once a day which may cause some oddities when we're thrashing it with posts

The archive deletion runs once a day, only, and after most of you have gone to bed.

I still haven't noticed it but I'll keep my eyes open.

Not really noticed it, I've occassionally seen that the shoutbox does indeed refresh but nothing particularly wierd here... smilies seem to be retained and the text doesn't move, just disappears for 1/10th of a second as the page reloads.

Firefox 2.0.0.5, Windows XP SP2.

That's what I'm seeing, but because the smilies disappear and they are bigger than the text the text seems like it's moving too.

Haven't seen it since I reported it so it may just be "one of those things."
