Do I take the slew of WoW events as a precursor to there being a lot of these in the calendar?

That's fine, if so, but if it's going to be an event a day, just for WoW, I'll seriously look at setting up a separate calendar for WoW events so that those who aren't in the WoW group don't have to see them.

I think these are not actually events but a way of finding out when events should take place. This has been done by a new member and may need ironed out. I don't think they realise that they are viewed by everyone.

It may be good to remove them after talking to the creator.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do the development to extend the events feature with all the nifty stuff I'd planned, nor am likely to for a good three or four months. I'm okay with the calendar being hard hit with events but, just like the forums, I'd rather keep the flood to the group that's interested in it.

It'd not take me more than 30 minutes to get a new calendar created and configured for WoW. Just let me know which way you'd like to go with it.

as Duren says I think that this is more of a precursor to see who is actually active on the WoW forums and an attempt to see when more people are around and willing/able to do these events. bear with us for a while and when we get our own raid calendar sorted you can have the calendar back

I think a calendar event that can only be viewed by a certain usergroup is a good idea, but if you don't have time, don't worry about it If you need someone to help develop, I might be able to Never used vBulletin before, so I understand if you'll "be in touch"!

It is a great idea and I think it would really benefit the community as you'd only see the events which appeal to you. Though I understand the work it would take to do this.

I think we have plans to move over to the raid calendar for wow though.

I've been waiting for a phone call from a guy for the last half hour so I figured I'd take the time to set up the calendar rather than just procrastinate on it.

The calendar is available here, as a link at the top of this forum (The Haven Guild Event Calendar), or via a drop down at the bottom right (on the Blue2 themes) when you're viewing the calendar itself.

Only people signed into the World of Warcraft usergroup will see the events (and Super Mods, who see all non-private parts of this forum anyhow).

I've migrated all the current events, plus any back to January 2007. This new calendar doesn't run before 2007 anyhow so pointless migrating any others.

It's not particularly obvious, unfortunately, if you've posted into the wrong calendar (i.e. the main one). I've made Duren and Windzarko Mods for that calendar but I think it'll take a Super Mod or Mod+ signed into the WoW usergroup to push events from the main calendar into the WoW calendar. I'll keep an eye on that, as I can, and I'd appreciate if people could shout (via PM, initially) if things are misdirected.

Personally, I'm only signed back into the WoW group to figure out what was happening with all these events. I'll stay here to respond to queries over the next week, then probably seek the calm/quiet again.

Let me know how you get on with it and if/when you move to raid calendar I can switch the forum link to point to the raid calendar instead and close the WoW calendar here (probably).

I'll give it a test run and see how we do. I'll probably try putting a bogus event into the main calendar as well and we can see what its like to jiggle it about.

Duren, if you need I'll bump you to Mod on the main calendar too so that you can migrate events if they should go astray. Let me know if that'd be helpful.

I'm sorry for the incovenience I brought up with this calendar issue, I originally planned to do the event parsing through GEM since it's ingame it's much more convenient for people who play wow regularly,

I also think that the events organized through GEM can be uploaded to the The Haven's Roster page, I'll try a few things and see if it will give any results.

Aye please do Ronin, I'm getting back into my admin role after the long break I took for a year back then when I was on the road alot Now that I have a new apartment and a nice broadband connection I'm all set to take on alot of responsibilty again!! Plus I can check whilst in work so all good there.

Sure, and no worries. I'd much rather people were using the facilities than so worried about breaking them or using them "wrong" that they avoid them. Just means that if I'd envisaged a different scheme then I kick into action to pull the differences back into the fold.
