Cant Describe problem.

I cant describe this problem and i am thus unable to google for a solution, same thing happens in many old games including starcraft:

Also, as steam doesnt allow for compatibility settings, it must have some other cause, gfx is radeon hd 5850

I played this network yesterday and the above problem didnt happen for about 2 hours, i can remove it by alt tabbing, and aftrer anohter 2 hours yeterday uit was happening say every 2 min, now its happening every 15-20 seconds.

Erm, don't know what your level of experience with computers is, so I'll start with the basics.

Have you got the latest graphics drivers installed?

Drivers Clean em down and start again.

Check that your card isn't overheating. I had similar graphical glitches and it was because the cards fan was blocked and it overheated. Unfortunately I didn't find that out in time to save the card - when I got it out of the case some of the components had melted.

the problem is palette corruption and is one I've seen mentioned with SC and Win7 before - find the EXE for it and then right click, hit the compatibility tab and tick the "disable desktop composition" box - IIRC that should sort it

If it was overheat would alt tabbing really cool it down on a game over 10 year old? I did that bloke and it pops up "failed to find steam".

This bug is only occuring on games which wont run in a window.

try killing the steam overlay and the Xfire overlay

On the subject of Windows 7 and old games, if the default compatibility settings don't work and you have time on your hands to mess around with some settings, you should try Microsoft's Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) - it has some pretty advanced compatibility flags that can be enabled for applications so you can customise fixes. Note: Definitely not for the average user, or the faint hearted!

Uhm, im going to try installing it on a different pc.

Also, i still cant describe it, lol. Since i dont know enough to know if its a color inversion or what

Appriciate the input guys, alas i am not able to upgrade my gfx drivers, and i dont know why, probably going to backup my pc and buy an SSD, not really the answer, and i suspect it wont help, though, as the person i play this game and others with never gets a problem... meh.
