Cataclysm Class Discussion

Right, so scouring ElitistJerks, really I'm just putting links here. But I want people to explore their classes on there, and find out what Cata means for you, and I'd like to inspire some good old discussion; what you like, don't like, and even how your newfound talents might affect others?

For starters, I'd like to apologise for any missing threads or information. This is either because I just plain missed them, or I didn't see an obvious, specific enough thread on the aspect, talent tree, whatever.

If you see anything which you think should be added, prod me, and I'll drop it in.

I'd like to give what might be a very short discussion to the healers:

http://cata.wowhead.com/spell=86949/cauterize

Cauterize:

You have a 100% chance that an attack which would otherwise kill you will instead bring you to 40% of your maximum health. However, you will burn for 12% of your maximum health every 1.5 sec for the next 6 sec. This effect cannot occur more than once per minute.

Okay, it's an incredibly helpful talent, however, I'm sure there are going to be times when that's going to be a hindrance? I dunno. I just wanted a healer's viewpoint on how helpful that is, with the damage afterwards.

Hoy, :)

It postpones your death for six seconds. It's plenty of time to shout something on TS, even with lag. :)

Nope, I don't see a downside at all...

Cheers,
J.

Awesome. Fair enough. Silly question really, but that's what I'm looking for in this thread. XD

Watching TotalHalibut's videos he makes good use of Cauterize in instances, and it does look to be a pretty nice "oh shit" button - as well as doubling up for usefulness in PvP situations.

His Cata Videos rock. Been watching every video he does.

Just found a brilliant guide to the new way enh work with 4.0.1 here.

This quote is one of the best descriptions of gearing I've ever read:

Imagine you're eating a really good Surf and Turf dinner. You first need to procure your utensils-in this case expertise and hit- otherwise you won't have the tools to eat the dinner. They're not as fun as anything else, but they're the most important.

After that, you move on to the steak, Agility. This is the thing that overshadows everything else on the plate with it's awesomeness. After that comes your...Lobster, I guess? That's your mastery. If the steak didn't exist, it would be the highlight, but the existence of agility pushes Mastery into the second spot.

After that you have your potatoes and drink, your crit and haste. You don't order the meal because the meal comes with crit and haste, but you also don't cry that they're included. They're still good, they're just not excellent.

And then you have like, your peas. This is spirit. No one likes peas or spirit and we bite our thumb at it.
