can you solve this puzzle?

Scenario :
* There is a bus with 7 girls alone inside,

* Each girl has 7 bags,

* Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats,

* Each Big cat has 7 small cats,

* All cats have 4 Legs each !


*** Question: How many Legs are there inside the bus?

14 - the girls are "alone inside the bus" which i would assume to mean that they have nothing and no-one at all with them... the rest is just jibber jabber :)

err presuming you define alone as isolated from all other things then 14 that of course also depends on whether or not all the girls have all their legs of course which is an unknown in this case, you could be more of a pedant and say that to define alone you can't have a group that are isolated from others, as to say the girls are alone and therefore there can only be 2 legs. But I'd say that the way this is worded means that as there is one bus in the instance and 7 girls alone although it's not stipulated that they are there at the same time the assumption is that they are.


however if you take alone in the sense that they are isolated from only other human beings the you would have (7^3)*4 +(7^4)*4 + 14 which i cba be arsed to work out and as i believe the answer to be 14 or 2 anyway who gives a crap, this also doesn't take into account the health of the cats at any one time.

you also could ask what are the girls sitting on, do they also want the number of legs of the chairs on the bus as I'm doubting the situation that arises that 7 girls are alone on a bus with no seats thus no legs, however it is equally unlikely that they are on a bus with only 7 seats. It is also strange that young children are allowed such a insane amount of bagged cats wherever those afore mentioned cats maybe.

Just to point out though, it was stated by the person that posted that its not a trick. As there was a word *alone* within the description

Girls - 14 legs
Big cats - 7 Girls with 7 bags each with 7 Big cats each with 4 legs = 1372 legs
Small cats - 7 Girls with 7 bags each with 7*7 Small cats (each big cat, of which there are 7, has 7 small cats) each with 4 legs = 9604 legs
Therefore, the total legs are 14 + 1372 + 9604 = 10990
It's a big bus!

Bob... Buses don't have legs .. all the seats are held on with a solid bar bolted on one side to the floor, and on the other side, the wall of the bus ...

What i feel really needs to be considered here is the fact that untill you open each of the seven bags there may not even be a cat according to good ol' mr schrodinger. So the only sure way to decide on this is to go an find the bus and physically count the legs.

Also, what are the girls doing carrying 7 bags full of cats around, cats' arn't the heaviest animals, but 7 of them, women just never lift that much, which would imply there's a boyfriend around somewhere carrying the bags and so should he be counted within the total number of legs!

Nah. Women that own that many cats cannot be romantically involved.

Women COULD carry that many bags. God knows they all OWN at least 7 different handbags... and have you SEEN how much crap they seem to be able to fit into those things??? hell it wouldn't surprise me if they carried that many cats in 7 bags at all...
