Chances of a 2nd team to play competetive wars?

Would you play in a anyplayer welcome ED team?

Hey all I was wondering (all admins and gods of THN please read) what the chances of a second team that can play in a league maybe clanbase or the smaller ED ladder where anyone can play yet still at a competitive level.

A squad ran by the squad rather then someone who is hardly ever around?

If I upset anyone I am sorry I am not intending too. I would just like to be able to play with the guys I get on with so well with in THN but in a competetive manor???????. :p

Probably a good idea, maybe the 16 player ladder on ED. Although I have memories of those matches and they were not as fun as the 32 player ladder we do now.

thats a really good idea, you know a chance for The not so great members to have a go and get recognised and give them a chance to have their own briefings and ATC tactics, what do u think bambi?

It's got my approval, I might warn you though, it's a hell of a lot of work ( alot more goes on behind the scenes). The 8v8 league on ED is by some accounts more competitive (more teams etc) My only concern is that it's gonna suck your precious time away from my friendlies (expect one for sunday!) :p

Yeah Dont worry I can run alot of admin. I had my own clan for 3 years so I know what goes on :P

Just changed game and gave my clan to some dutch dudes to run lol

So if me and GIbson (if he wants) organise things this would be ok in the eyes of the admins?

It would be like football a reserve team - and if members shine then they might get picked by the THN admin gods to play a few of the (MAJOR) ED games. If you get my drift. It would be a good process and also quite fun in the process?

Hey guys,

It has always been on the cards to get a second team up and running within THN.

If I were going to do it then I would enter it into the 8v8 ED league. Good competition, community and it's very friendly.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be doing it as most of my time is already taken up running the rest of the BF2 stuff. If a second team is to be created it has to come from the community and have the drive and commitment to be successful on it's own. I'll be there to help you get going if you need it and I'll be around to offer advice but that's all I am willing to give.

Running a clan takes a lot of time, dedication and effort and I'd be happy to see someone take on the challenge. It becomes very rewarding when you start seeing results. One thing I would suggest is getting a partner to help get things started. Also find an Alpha leader as well that's just as important.

Good luck with it. If you've got any questions then drop me a PM.

P.S. No poaching of players. :D

What's rubbish?

Your post or this thread?

Having a competitive squad for people not in the 32-player ladder is a good idea! If you have enough people for the 8v8. THN is getting bigger all the time so finding people shouldn't be to difficult.

Your major problem will be the matches themselves, the 16-player ladder sucks :). Have you read the ED forums? They're not happy about certain practices going on .

im up for this but i aint doing any orginasing because im becoming rather busy at the moment for some reason.

i think being part of this ladder is better for the newer people to THN such as my #self as the ED team work extreamly well together as u can tell by the results, so why break up such a good team, and to be honest id feel kinda bad if i replaced some1 and im sure they would hate me lol

If you replaced someone on the roster there would be a very good reason for you to have done so. You would be welcomed into the team like any other player would. :D

Seems like an idea to me - I see where you are coming from that there are people who wont get into the official clan run by PhatBambi who none-the-less still want to get some competitive games going.

Since he's been adopted as the THN BF2 community representative I think fi$hy should have a hand in helping to plan this through (if he's willing ?) I'm sure he can help you out getting some thoughts toegether LynxGB and it will mean that you aren't both working at cross purposes (i.e. where does the community begin and the second ED team end).

In short it sounds good and I hope that you get enough interest to make it viable. Since PhatBambi has run the main clan for a while now he might be a good person to have a word with in terms of advice on some sort of structure - i.e. who gets to determine the team and who resolves conflicts, updates notices, organises games, plans training ... There' s a whole raft of things to consider as you can see.

Taking all of the above asside for a moment there is one fundamental criteria before you do this. You have to be able to communicate and compromise - if you cant talk to people and resolve conflicts then this a non-starter. This is not a criticism but rather a fact of life when running a community - just ask all the people I've pissed off when I've done things badly and they will confirm :)

In short good luck - get planning and asking around for ideas. If you want any thoughts from me then come approach and I'll happily talk through ideas and thougts on how you might want to organise things. But first talk to fi$hy to avoid overlap! Bottom line, we'll happily put all the resources available to help you do this as long as you are prepared to put in the leg work to do it properly !

Ideas can be started by one person and carried on by another you know :)

And community means distributed workload - we just need a new leader for the idea if LynxGB is no longer willing.
