[GW2] Character Focus

Right, i'm getting the urge to start running a truckload of dungeons.

Just writing a very quick primer on the three character focus' that have been identified by Arenanet and hoping to get replies with what people are looking to have a crack at.

The three roles are...

Damage - Kill things fast like
Support - Healing + Boons
Control - Knockdown/back + Mobility + Damage prevention (Blinds, Block etc.)

I'm currently looking to spec out Pixie (Guardian) for Support or Control, because that's what they fucking excel at. I'm hoping not everyone jumps on the bathed in blood bandwagon, because lets face it... 5 glass cannons in one group is going to be a hilarious/painful experience.

Seacrest Out.

I'm mostly about the support

Healing Breeze, Fall Back, Stand Your Ground, and Signet of Judgement (i think, passive less damage, activate for might\vulnerability)

My play style tends to not be very subtle so that puts me in the "wade in and get bathed in blood" bandwagon of being a Damage based character.

If we intend to do a fair bit of dungeon running I'll likely make my exotic set have more vit/tuf on it than the standard glass-cannon pow/pre/cnd.

I *could* theoretically run a boon-type build, as there are enough pets which give things like might/rejuv, and using the nature magic tree I can have mobile spirits which have % chances of giving the group various boons and condition damage types.

Probably best to stick to damage though, as rangers doing anything else is a bit silly.

I thought I was too Ronin but apparently the first dungeon can be run at level 30. It's the Ascalonian Catacombs located in the Plains of Ashford.

In that case not so far off. Keep hopping between different characters... But I like them all. :)

Out of interest, what sort of build are you running? Now there's at least 4 of us at the endgame it'd be interesting to see what you guys have settled on.

Shortbow; took the traits that give you remote placing of traps and use spike, flame and poison trap. Also got the one that gives you a chance to bleed on crit. I'll have to look up the rest when I get home. I've got most of my trait points in the power and precision categories (30 in each) and then padding out the remaining points for extra condition damage.

I have no idea if it's optimal, but it seems to get the job done. Better for AOE than single target, but if I can attack from the back or side and get the bleeds stacked, then mobs go down pretty quick.

That's pretty much 100% how I levelled, but I did it with an axe/horn combo instead. I think I also went 30/30 into the precision and condition damage trees, with 10 in the power. Basically just maxed out condition damage and watched the traps eat everything alive.
