yeah, tried it, and with firefox it wouldn't accept the certificate and with ie it just logged me out and required an xbox live id. so, meh.

Yeah, Firefox has been exceptionally temperamental with Windows Live sign-in. I can't get it to work at all, though I do suspect this is something to do with NoScript. IE does it fine, just not FF.

I use firefox and haven't had any issues whatsoever with WL logins on any website... I also use NoScript. It may be that you have a certain site blocked that WL needs
