Christmas Gaming ... tell us your plans

So Christmas is here, all that lovely food and drink and some well deserved free time to spend with family or online (yeah I know which gets priority).

So after the first couple of hours of small talk with the family what do you plan to play ? What has you itching to start the Christmas celebrations with a bang and lots of noise ?

Personally I've still not given NeverWinterNights 2 a go so that will be on my try list. There's always the ubiquitous World of Warcraft should I want to lose several days of my holiday. Finally there is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas which has been reviewed well enough to make me seriously consider treating myself.

Sounds a nice mix. Its strange I'm straying more back to consoles again. Found my PS2 games last night (hidden behind DVD's) and I fancy a play of them again before I trade them in.
Plus have to wait and see if I get anything nice over christmas. :) *crosses fingers*

Just noticed PLAY are having a sale. Prey for £9.99 tempting.

I tried the prey demo when it came out and was not impressed. The best thing about the game was that in the early part of the game you enter a bar with a row of coinop games that you can stand and play as your character. I got a great deal of fun out of playing a game within a game, shame the rest of the experience did not live up to par.

I'm also thinking along the console lines, I don't have a console at the moment but its something that shadow and I keep mentioning to each other ... maybe in the new year I guess.

Buzz: The Big Quiz, best console game ever! Very good for entertaining others, and it's always a good laugh :D

Also, for my PS2 I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 2, Ico, and Shadows of the Colossus. XBox is for Halo. PC I'm playing BF2142 and City of Heroes at the moment, with splashes of Deus Ex when it doesn't crash.

Ooh, let's see what I'm playing over the Christmas Holidays..

I'll probably first whack in Medieval 2:TW, as I feel like pillaging a bit, after that I'll probably try some Splinter Cell: Double agent so I can pillage a bit more quietly. Then it will most likely be on to Half-Life: Episode 1, for a bit of Combine slaughtering, and then some Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six: Vegas so I can abseil down a building and pop through the window and go "Dai!". Then finally, I'll dig out the old joystick and enjoy some WWII dogfighting, bombing and flying action in IL2: Sturmovik.

I'll also be playing Company of Heroes, EVE and Chaos Theory between all these times.

*phew*

Got Guitar Hero 2 on the Christmas list and looking forward to it :D

That, and probably some more City of Heroes and some WoW too. O and Need for Speed: Carbon... which I treated myself to a couple of days ago :D

Well, I'm still plodding my way through the FF series. STILL on the first disc of FFVII (but its such an excellent game, and I'm having so much fun ... wish I'd played it sooner) and once that game is out the way, all 3 discs of it, theres another 4 to go!

Aside from FF, I also bought the Myst Collection which is pretty neat. Completed Myst 1 just there and it was short but nicely brain taxing so Im lucky there are still 4 to go :) And as far as games during christmas goes: Call of Duty 3, Pro Evo 6, Project Gotham 3 with the X360 steering wheel (yipee!), Madden 07 and maybe even Viva Pinata or NFS: Carbon. Then once that lot is out the way Ive got a few good preorders for early 07 which include CnC3, Supreme Commander on PC and Forza 2, GTR on X360 (hoping to take maximum advantage of my steering wheel).

So, I reckon Im all set for the next few months :)

So far I've played through Myst, Splinter Cell, and a variety or old arcade games. I hope to play through Riven, Pandora Tomorrow, Anachronox, and The Longest Journey by the end of Christmas break. Sleep isn't a priority :)

At the same time???? Could you strap 2 guitars together to do that :D
There's one documented instance where the second player walked away and I was forced to play both bass and lead. But that ended... poorly. :p

Riven is so hard and confusing ... :/ Wish it had the neat little 'hint' feature of Myst, sometimes just a point in the right direction is all I need.
I was thinking that myself when I was playing it last night :)

I printed off a gamefaqs faq and played along with it. It's really good because the lad who wrote has structured it in such a fashion that slowly brings the solution round to your own thinking, rather than telling you straight off the bat. I managed to solve a couple of the more complicated puzzles myself (I had the whole D'Ini numbers thing figured out before he even got round to mentioning it. Managed to crack open the spinning 'book-domes' as well, far before he was considering it. Proud, quite proud :)) But yeah, great game nonetheless.

Inbetween the beer and the food, I've dug out Rise Of Legends and the original HL so I can get all nostalgic with Team Fortress Classic. I've managed to complete NWN2 but I'm going to have another go with a completely different class.

And there's always the odd bout of BF2....but my main line of attack is on Cubase and Reason at the moment.

I got CS:Source working again after many months of it completely failing, so I'm going to be spending a bit of time getting reacquainted with de_dust :)

Also playing some Excite mod for HL2 - it's multiplayer portal (w00t!) and is therefore insane fun.

And to top it all off I'll probably play some Jedi Knight because I'm a nostalgic git and think that games of yesteryear are great.
