Its not even in alpha yet - cut the excitement until they actually release (hopefully OSS) code for it and people can get a look.

Just because its google (who are semi-evil at least) doesn't mean its the work of genius.

Haven's a little agressive on google today, eh? ^^

Although I must say that I doubt it will be any competition for Microsoft and Apple.

The aim of this OS is initially for netbooks - it's going to be built to do one thing and one thing only - run a web browser.

EVERYTHING is going to be done through the browser interface.

Well. Evil or not, Google will take over the world.

Cheers,

From BBC news

...The operating system, which will run on an open source licence, was a "natural extension" of its Chrome browser, the firm said...

So I hope so!

An interesting concept, as haven says, we shall have to see what the beta is like.

I'm a little curious how on earth the beep can run an article on major operating systems "going after microsoft" and totally fail to mention ubuntu, fedora, or OS X?????

Cos "people" have heard of Google, but not of Ubuntu? It makes me sad too.

It should have done really. However, maybe they feel that, due to Microsoft's still HUGE market share, ubuntu etc. have failed in their attempt to 'go after Microsoft'? Or possibly that they feel Chrome OS is the first effort, what with all it's financial backing, to really have a shot at smashing a few dent's in Bill Gate's armour? Just a few possibilities. :)
