Dont bother with them. If you want practise then just join a team DM server and play to your hearts content. You learn a whole lot more just experimenting with various guns and learning each of the maps in an actual game than you do in practises. Its better to work out your own techniques than let someone else tell you what to do. Aside from that, you can have a wee gander at KillCams and have a wee spec or two just to see how the pros do it.

Also, from past experience, practises are a nightmare.

I must say I do agree, and the kill cam is brilliant if you are practicing, but a bit of a bummer if you have a good sniping spot :(
but still, i do think we need to have a kinda get together at least once a month just to sorta have a bash on a server, because it is essential for Clan matches.

Does it really matter what we call them? I personally think they are a good idea:

1) They show THN as a strong community, attracting more people;
2) We get to own a map and beat everyone;
3) It'll be fun
4) We'll have more chance of recruiting people into THN, not just for CoD2, but for other games as well (kind of a repeat on number 1, but meh)

I don't see why not. If you don't wanna come then fine, but don't tell other people not to come as well.

Seconded, yes practices can be a disaster, but at the same time there's a benefit.

With organisation, comes a leader, and with a leader comes teamwork.

Finally, whilst it might be an opinion that practices are the sux00r (yes leet speak time :p ) It's a personal opinion, and therefore somebody like myself, who hasn't played a cod practice has to participate in one in order to decide.

So in other words, give taffy and his master plans a chance! :D

Im scratching my head. I think you misunderstand me Taffy, or vice versa. The practise you posted up stated that we have a rifle/aiming practise which sounded to me like jumping in a private/empty server and someone going 'right, take your rifle. Aim down the sight, shoot! Ok, now shoot at me while I run' and so on. Thats the way aiming practises have been in the past for me, and a right waste of space they are too. I wasnt trying to stop people coming, Im saying they are ... well, useless. If the practise involves us going on a DM server and kicking ass then Im all for it, I just thought you meant otherwise...

EDIT: Actually, no matter how I look at it, it still sounds like that to me. Going on an empty server and just shooting amongst ourselves. Thats no way to promote or recruit.

I have to agree with Tetsuo Shima on this Taffy, we would benifit more by going on a public as these would have people more like what real opponents in clan matches would be doing.

hmmm... well obviously if we went on an empty server, we wouldn't be doing much for recruitment. Use some common sense (not used in an offensive tone). We will go on a server, tdm or whatever, one that runs rifles only. Whilst there, sniping peoples heads off, we can just 'slyly' advertise THN to other players. How does that sound to you?

Also, a practice is different to instructing. We will be practising shooting wih rifles. It's just an idea though, no-one told me what they wanted to do in practices, so instead of criticising what has be arranged suggest changes to it. Make your posts constructive people!

Why rifles? In clan matches your allowed other weapons. And tbh I find only rifle servers kinda boring, its just BANG! dead, dont get me wrong, I mainly play with rifles but I like variety and a challenge with my opponents weapons if you know what I mean.

I sense a bit of confusion here...

To clarify, today we are practising with rifles, then next week or whenever the next practice is, we can practice something else. We aren't practicing the same thing every week, to get a bit of variety in.

Ahh ok, but I still think it would probably be better if we decided what weapon each of us will specialise in and then go on a public server and have some games as these will be the closest thing to a real clan match.

Except that that wasnt what you said first. Recruitment didnt appear to be any part of the original PRACTISE event, so I assumed you were meaning jumping on an empty server. Just to avoid this kind of cuntfusion in future, try and put a little bit more detail of what type of event you are planning into the event heads up. Maybe Im just being a bit impossible, but come on. I cant read minds.

And as for the Rifles only debate, I think rifles only is a good idea. One thing Taffy did mention in the heads-up was that it was an aiming practise with rifles, and you cant argue with that. Fair dos, you arent only going to be using a rifle in a match, but the likelihood is that you will be using one at some point, so a bit of practise would be handy.
Plus, skills you pick up with the rifle can (mostly) be applied to the other weapons. Skills (or lack of) picked up while using sprayguns or shotguns cant be used with a rifle.
Im talking about good reactions, accuracy whilst aiming down the sight and the dependability on other factors when you cant lay down a barrage of fire. A good session with a rifle can improve on quite a lot of those.

To clarify, today we are practising with rifles, then next week or whenever the next practice is, we can practice something else. We aren't practicing the same thing every week, to get a bit of variety in.

Good shout.
