People are always having issues with Codecs and fubar codec packs.

However, one that I've come across that seems to be a panacea to all (my) codec ills is the Combined Community Codec Pack. Now, it's specifically targetted at people wanting to watch Anime so it may not address game codec issues, but for Anime I've thrown away everything else and gone with this. They've even got documentation (shock of shocks).

Worth a thought, whatever the way.

but yes, looks pretty funky, I'll try that if I ever have an issue (though DIVX seems to cope with most stuff)

DivX, as a format, is getting out of date now. It's prolific, but new things are often being generated in MKV and often with the H264 requirements. Add to that the need for an AC3 generator and other peculiarities and even the DivX bundle seems to be struggling.

Personally, I'm using WMP for anything DivX based and zPlayer for MKV files.
