Hello all!

A little update on what's going on at my part.
Friendlies:
Friendlies have been a bit on the slack side as of late. The main reason for this being issues with ED.The main problem with Enemy Down being:

1, The Cup
2, Site being offline.

Unfortunetly it's been difficult to organise anything with the general uncertainty of when/where cup matches will occur, whether we will move on etc. etc.

Hopefully as the Cup draws to a close, and as the ED site becomes stable again, organisation worries will go outta the window!

A couple of you have emailed/PM'd me with requests, and the "clan" I hope to challenge ASAP is UK1 http://www.uk1clan.com/ (though this of course is totally dependant on status in the cup / availability of UK1 and availability of our own resources)

I'll crack onto that job ASAP..

Other Stuff

There's been alot of demand (to a degree) for a Race Night, If the OP does not want to organise this, I'll get it done.. However at the same time with the exception of friendlies we seem to get a major problem with attendance for this kind of thing. I'll be looking into ways to "encourage" :p attendance for the benefit of those who arn't able to attend "clan" matches.

Mini-League
Not sure what is happening here, seemed to be plans to turn it into informal "in-house" matches, not sure how that will work out. Again is totally dependant on "attendance"

Issues

1, Large problem with attendance for "non ED-Matches" I'm not happy with this, especially if the player concerned has signed-up yet doesn't attend. If events arn't as enjoyable as clan games, then tell us! Don't simply veto them...

2, Unfortunetly if an event clashes with an ED match, the ED match gets priority. ATM we are stuck in a odd place where we have too many players for an ED team, yet not enough to be able to work happily with or without the ED team. Consider this a call for recruitment to our community! :p

Resolution

I'm interested in the general reaction to this post, what you guys think should be introduced etc... I'm also going to look at a potential "carrot and stick" approach of getting higher player counts for BF2.

The main reason for this post however, Friendlies will continue!! It's a work in progress!!

Again, If you have an idea for a foolproof idea, then get it organised and done! If anyone wants my help, or wants a chat and a love sesh either contact me via PM, or have a look for my email address in my bio...

Whatcha thinking?

What does 'carrot and stick approach' mean?

Oh and dont you think we already have a very high BF2 player count? I thought it would be at its peak sometime around now as I think more and more people (over a very long period of time ;)) will start to leave BF2 for other games.

'carrot and stick approach' mean?

well the stick is where you always get punished for what you do no matter if its good, Army leaders use this to make their troops as hards as nails,
however the carrot method is the oposite, you always get praised and this is thort to soften troops up, but keeps morale at a healthy level, a combination is the best to get the maximum results

I'll put the Race night event up on the calender later today.
First week in March looks good.
I was waiting to see how far we get in the Cup before it went ahead.

To motivate is to change behaviour. How can you change the behaviour of people, both as individuals and as a group or team? Using the carrot and stick approach, there are basically two ways; behaviour is changed by force or by choice through the use of incentives.

On the other hand, people contribute or become more productive because they are offered incentives i.e. the carrot approach. The major advantage with this is that it can work very well as long as the incentive is attractive enough.
