Talked this one through with the Admin Team and we're looking at doing the following, probably tomorrow (Sunday 2nd). In short, we've some forum duplication / redundancy and some forums that are really never used and we're going to clean those up to keep things clear and simple.
Just because something appears on this it doesn't mean it can never come back, just that it isn't needed for the moment. There are a couple of other borderline cases, but we're just dealing with the more obvious sections.
The list, pretty much cut & paste from the Admins' Conference Room:
Forum: Mercenary Lords
Action: Close & Delete All (9) Posts
Reason: Lack of interest in Mercenary Lords, near zero activity. Also at Dez's request. Also delete "Play Mercenary Lords" sub-forum (just a link).
Forum: Neverwinter Nights
Action: Close & Delete All (1) Posts
Reason: Lack of any activity around NWN currently.
Forum: Server News & Announcements
Action: Close, no deletions required
Reason: Never used. Redundant.
Forum: Tell the Admins!
Action: Close, Move All (44) Posts to "FAO: Site Admins"
Reason: In all practical senses a duplicate of FAO: Site Admins, just less used. Note, FAO: Site Admins is retasked appropriately below.
Forum: FAO: Site Admins
Action: Rename to "Hey Admins!" and alter description
Reason: Retask from just being about the THN Games site to include our games servers too. Simplifies how users give us feedback.
Forum: THN Server Admin
Action: Close, Move All (3) Posts to "FAO: Site Admins"
Reason: Near total lack of use. All aspects of this can be covered in FAO: Site Admins or through the other Mod/Admin forums. Also delete corresponding usergroup as it is then redundant (as regards board permissions).
This isn't up for discussion as the situation is pretty clear with these forums. Consider this a FYI, though if you have any reasoned and urgent objections then now is the time to speak...
