In Cryo Sleep
Old age in society today is treated as a “disability” of sorts and our elderly are often treated differently than others in the community. They are often socially segregated and marginalized. In the poetry that we have studied, the theme of old age as a hindrance and something that is not to be looked forward to. All of the authors of the poems came from rural backgrounds where houses are often miles apart, so the themes of isolation and loneliness are prominent in their poems, and are strongly reinforced by their rural upbringing. All the poets we have studied have treated old age with a degree of discontent, and not one of them describes it as an enviable state to be in.

Extract from my english coursework :) (not to be plagiarized by that way!) :D
