Has been announced. 3 days ago, no less! How'd I miss this one? =/

I loved Deus Ex, shame about the sequel. I wonder if 3 will be any better...

Am I the only one that remembers DX1 as a pretty good concept marred by many (often hilarious, admittedly) bugs, terrible voice acting, and idiot AI?

Nope. Well, except that I didn't really find Deus Ex terribly memorable in the first place. Never got on with it.

Blasphemy! The both of you! I loved Deus Ex. I'll admit that the first level was probably too hard for most people, and scared them off the game, but other than that it was excellent. The technology was that of the day, so voice syncing was a bit rubbish, but no more so than in Mass Effect.

As for bugs, I only ever had one crash. It was after 3 hours of gaming without saving, which annoyed me a little. Meaning that I turned the computer off, walked away in silence, and didn't come back to the game for 3 weeks, but meh!

i see it's now officially confirmed then
i originally read about Deus Ex 3 at ign over 6 months ago and Eidos have been quiet about it ever since.
I really hope they go back to the roots as i'd rather forget the 2nd one even exists given that it was such a disappointment after the first

This seems like a good time for me to step in with some lovely projects to make your DX1 experience that bit better. :)

Okay, first up is for UT2004 owners: the mod you've all been waiting for - Deus Ex Reborn. I tried an alpha of this and though the interface was broken it did provide a glimpse into what was possible. Here's hoping they finish it. :)

Secondly, a more traditional find. The High Definition Texture Pack does what it says on the tin, and looks quite nice too.

Finally, here is a list of Deux Ex mods... I would highly recommend the enhanced OpenGL renderer and Project Cassandra, (in-)famously "created" by PC Gamer's Kieron Gillen.

Now get going! :D

There is now a teaser available as well. Completely unhelpful, as teasers usually are, but the Deus Ex main theme music (which appears for, ooo, 3 seconds) still makes my skin tingle.

Now called Deux Ex: Human Revolution, Eurogamer have a trailer (and have had for a few days, so this may have been posted already). Looks excellent. Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell.

Deus Ex 1 is still heralded as one of the best games ever, whilst Deus Ex 2 was barely heralded at all, if even acknowledged.

I think it's safe to say Deus Ex 3 will fall somewhere inbetween, which is to say it's impossible to tell before we see some true teaser content.

Console games are console games, usually poorly ported to Windows :( this makes me cautious...

You forgot MGS1 (Since after that it went from Stealth to "LOL I HAZ GUNZ! PEWPEW!")

Too true, sadly. :(

The MGS series at least had a cult following, Deus Ex had no such following that stuck with, and praised he second incarnation.

...what? Deus Ex has the MOST die hard cult following ever, so set in their ways that they hated the second game without ever playing it.

Yes, Deus Ex 1 does... but show me a serious Deus Ex fan who acknowledges the second game ever happened ;)
