Dollhouse

Dollhouse is a TV show from Joss Whedon of the Serenity/Firefly (and Buffy, blah blah) fame. I am going to talk about it in more detail, but firstly:

That just makes me go "oooOOOOO!"

Now for serious bits. The Wikipedia page has a lot of information, in the main plot is that there are a group of "dolls" or "actives" who sign up for 5 years of their life in order to have their personalities, memories, muscle memories, etc., erased and re-written in order to become anything people want them to be. At the end of the 5 years, they remember nothing, and get a nice bit cheque.

However, it's illegal, so there's an FBI agent watching them the whole time, trying to catch them, etc. And there's a question as to whether the actives really do sign up for this stuff, or if they are forced. Also, the main character, Echo (played by Eliza Dushku of Buffy and Angel fame), and some of the other actives start to group together and become friends every time their memory is erased, bringing in to question whether they were friends from before.

The first season takes place as Echo starts to become self-aware, with her ranging from an escort (who is programmed to completely fall in love with the man who hired her for that extra bit of realism that money can buy) to an assassin. And it looks fun!

The one downside, which means my love for Joss Whedon is wavering? It's being paid for by FOX. Who Joss said he would never work with again after Firefly was cancelled mid-season. Let's just hope that doesn't happen again!

The British one annoys me already. Shes says far too many long words per sentence. 'This is spectacularly unacceptable' who the hell says that???? It onlys just makes sense, and it seems like the writers are just trying to make her sound more like their idea of how a British person sounds.

Unfortunately, it seems that very American depiction of the British conforms this style of visualisation! I have no idea why!
