And a spokesman for gay rights group Stonewall added: "It's great that JK has said this. It shows that there's no limit to what gay and lesbian people can do, even being a wizard headmaster."

They do realise this is fiction right? On second thought, if anyone here knows any gay people, can we get them to apply for the job of "Wizard Headmaster" and let us know how they get on?

I'm all for equality/tolerance etc, but getting so worked up about the sexuality of a character in a childrens book is way over the top if you ask me.

Cant imagine him doing gay things(character, not the film actors), besides, the actors would probably have reconsidered had they known.

I had thought it odd that there was never a mention of a Mrs.Dumbledore.

Actually, I would expect that their character's sexuality wouldn't worry many actors. They're pretty used to playing someone they're not and getting up close and physical with other actors of the same gender. That is not to say that they'd feel comfortable (though they might well be comfortable) shooting a sexually oriented scene that goes against their personal preferences but that, for the most part, knowing a character is gay/straight/bi is just more useful information about that character and helps the actor play them better.

I don't see why Rowling did this. He's gay, so what. I haven't read the books from 4 up, but surely this has no effect whatsoever on the storyline?

All i think it will do Nanor is let some people feel closer with the characters than there were beforehand, thats about all Imo

Well to some extent it can be considered to have a large effect on the story of book seven and could explain a lot.

I don't see the point in this revelation.
Right so Dumbledore likes men, ok and Harry scar is there in mustard with someone putting new stuff on every night, thats why it actually stings its because mustard on raw flesh hurts like a slag.
who cares this really doesn't effect the story particularly imo.
It's not like she needs any publicity either now is it. Do u think that maybe she is just trying to piss the bible belt off even more as they already hate her i really don't think this is going to have any effect at all

That thought did occur to me :p she was saving it til now as a good old 'get it right up you' middle finger gesture to the already slavering 'bible belt'. You're right bob, I don't think it really matters a toss either way.
