Dungeon Finder - Gearcheck

I'm rather annoyed right now... My warlock hit 80 yesterday, aside for the heirloom staff and one trinket she's sporting blues only, around ilvl 170-187, doing 2.2k on trash and 2.5k dps on bosses but the friggin thing won't let me join for random heroics, claiming my gear level is too low. That's just bullshit, for non-ToC and non-ICC heroic 5mans I would be fine :(

No other point to this post, really, other than to vent some nerdrage and ask if you have similar experience with the bloody thing.

I had the same problem when my tank hit 80, but luckily at the time i was a social in this guild. But you can get the right ilevel gear from running random normals or the toc5man on hc.

ToC5 normal it didnt allow me into. From normals it's semi-hard to get stuff, as people need it all the time + not much guaranteed drops.

As it turns out, heirloom items drag your ilvl down a LOT, as they apparently count as ilvl 1 items (just like for enchants). No matter the scaling.

This is the problem indeed. Try making some epic gear, or get us to run a normal heroic ( as in go to the instance) :)

If this is indeed the case, then a little bit of my faith in the world has been restored. Something within me has hated the concept of heirloom items ever since it first popped out...

Cheers,
J.

Whaat :) Z, I knew you were a little unusual, but heirlooms are the best thing since sliced bread ;) Well, no, but they are useful - if only for the +10%xp bonus.

Bearing in mind the changes they have made with the cloth cooldowns gone, you should be able to make some competitive gear up straight away.

I recently dinged my druid, well about a month ago, I got into heroics straight away with heirloom chest and weapon, but had the item level 200 craftable legs and boots and some gear that had been acquired via normals along the way and was fine.

Anyways, I think that craftables would be the best option.

The gearcheck thing on the lfg is a godsend really, mean you don't get fresh 80's that have no gear and no clue how to play joining your heroics, granted it's annoying when your alts can't get in and you know how to play, and you do get people who have no clue how to play, but most of the time it's just 4/5 who know how to play and the last 1 having no clue how to, but at least most of the group can half play and stuff. But yes, gear check ok lfg is bloody handy and blizz were smart to put it in really. I just wish people had the decency to wait more then 3 seconds for somone who DC'd before kicking.

Normal procedure for me with a new 80 is run as many hcs as possible if your having problems with getting a grp id suggest u find 4 people that dont mind helping you out until u can replace those heirloom peices.

So yeah to clarify, find 4 people that like you.
