Hope this is right section...

Well, I was on my nvidea control panel, setting dual view for my monitor and tv, I press apply, and both screens turn off aplying new settings.. Tv comes on fine, but my monitor comes on and my current screen is minimized by about 100 times, and repeated 200 lol, and everytime i moved mouse the screen rearranged, so i couldn't even make out a desktop shortcut or anything, practically inuseable...

After an hour of memorising all shortcut positions, I managed to get it back to single view on my monitor, but it was still knackered! I switched my DVI cable to analogue from pc to monitor, and it wortks fine but u can tell the difference!

Basically, my monitor works on Anologue, and not DVI now. Which is likely to have screwed up; the graphics card or the monitor? I hope its the first cos it's due renewing... Please help if you're an IT boff cos I dont know how it managed it lol

Cheers,
Rob

[mod]Moved from Games Chat to Chat Box. The Chat Box doubles as our non-game-specific technical forum. Don't sweat it. :) --RS[/mod]

I have no idea; I haven't got two monitors in close proximity so I've never needed to look. Hopefully someone else can assist!

Yeah, but both my screens are monitors, not one TV :p

Most (CRT) TVs (rather than LCD or Plasma TVs) don't have VGA (or DVI) input, so I'm guessing you either have a fancy TV which your computer should just see as a monitor, or you're using some converter?

Either way, it would really help me if you could take a picture (with your phone or something?) of the problem (on both screens). I've done a bit of S-Video out to SCART conversion and what not, but I think others might be able to help you more =/

Eh well, sometimes I have my PC set up dual-screen wise, and my other screen is an HDTV, so maybe I can help you. I've never really had any problems with my setup before (I'm ATi, by the way), not in the way you seem to be having at least, but sometimes my monitor went a bit wonky when I plugged the cable into the TV because the card tried to force the TV native resolution over both displays. What kind of TV have you got? I'm guessing an LCD type thing since you're dealing with DVI cables. Also, have you tried reinstalling your nVidia drivers? Might be the 'Do you want to keep this resolution?' thing scewing up, or the multi-screen drivers being argumentative, or something.

My TV is an old CRT and I'm using a S-video to Scart converter, my monitor is a 19" TFT, which only works on analogue now and not DVI since the prob...

Here are some pics of my TFT trying to use DVI now....
(this is it set to single view, on my monitor using dvi)

And my desktop :S

My first observation here, before i go any further, does the monitor work on VGA with the TV plugged in or not?

Yeah it does, monitor works with or without tv in analougue, and doesnt work full stop with DVI :( I have a feeling it's my crappy card now though because it keeps crashing COD4 and coming up with errors and just being a bitch really :(
